Ranma ½ belongs to Rumiko Takahashi and numerous companies, and is used in this story with out consent. The idea for the story is completely from me with the occasional input of friends. Denny’s belongs to someone but I don’t know who, and is used with out permission.

Author’s note: Hey, and welcome to part two of A Place To Call Home. For those of you who are new to the series and are wondering what the heck is going on here I suggest you read part 1, not only will you understand it better, but you’ll also find out who Summer is. At the moment I’m not real sure how people are liking the story ‘cause not very many people have expressed their views on the story either good or bad, but what the people who have let me know what they think all say is that they like it. Oh, yeah just to let you know when the Tendos are saying "she" they are not referring to Ranma they are referring to Summer, who I plan on having take over the stuff that would normally happen to Ranma in girl form, and maybe some other stuff. Now, on with the story.

A Place To Call Home Part II: Touchdown – by Tracy Garnett

Ranma glanced down at his watch to see how much time had passed since take off, to his horror he discovered that only three hours had passed, and that there were still six more hours in the air. That meant six more hours of listening to Summer drone on about absolutely nothing, something he thought that he couldn’t take.

"……So anyways there I was sitting in Denny’s minding my own business, and who should walk in? Your going to find this hard to believe when I tell you this but none other then Brad Pitt! I’m not kidding you, he walked right in and sat at the table across from me…"

Ranma just starred at the girl by his side {what is she talking about now? I could’ve sworn that a few minutes ago she was talking about ice cream and now all of a sudden it’s Brad Pitt.} With that his thoughts were interrupted by the realization that Summer was asking him a question.

"I’m sorry, what did you just ask me?"

Summer was looking a little more then annoyed at having to repeat herself.

"I said where are you from?"

"Where did that come from?"

" What do you mean Ranma?"

"Well one minute you’re talking about ice cream and then the next your talking about Denny’s and Brad Pitt, then all of a sudden you ask me where I’m from?

Heck I don’t even know where you’re from. So why should I tell you about myself when you haven’t told me one thing about yourself?"

"Your right, and I’m sorry about that, I guess I got a little carried away. I didn’t realize until you pointed it out that I’ve been talking about absolutely nothing for the past three hours. So what do you say that we spend the rest of the trip getting to know each other okay?"

"Okay!"

Meanwhile the occupants of the Tendo dojo where sound asleep, all that is except for one.

Akane gazed down at the note sent to her by the girl that was to stay with them for the next year trying to figure out what type of person she was. Was she tall? Was she short? Did she have a good sense of humor? Was she a kind and gentle or mean and violent? And most importantly did she study martial arts? Akane hoped that the last one was yes. It had been a while since she’s had a person other then her father to spar with, and when ever she went against him he would hold back, she would hurt him, he would cry, and Kasumi would tell her to be ‘more gentle’ with father, in that very order.

{Oh well I’ll guess I’ll find out tomorrow what she’s like} and with that still fresh in her mind she drifted off to a dream less sleep.

Back on the plane.

"Okay, so your telling me that you were born in Alaska but grew up in California?"

"Yeah that’s exactly what I’m telling you. Why?"

"I don’t know I just find it hard to find that you can go from one extreme to the other, that’s all."

"Well believe it Ranma, it’s true. Now it’s your turn to tell me where you’re from."

"Where I’m from, as in where I was born. The place that I lived when I was younger."

"Yes I mean where you were born, and all the places that you lived."

"How much time do we have till we land?"

"Four hours why?"

"Oh nothing. Well here goes. I was born in Japan, Kyoto to be exact, but I haven’t been back there since I was about three maybe four years old. As for the places that I’ve lived, well, let’s just say that there are way too many to count."

Ranma could tell that Summer wasn’t satisfied with his answer, and hoped that she would be kind enough to let it drop. He was wrong.

"What I don’t get it, you don’t look Japanese but yet you say that you are. And what do you mean by to many places to count? I just don’t get it!"

"Fine I would prefer not having to explain this to you but if I really have to I will. Do I really have to?"

"Yes Ranma you do!"

"Okay Here goes as I said before I was born in Kyoto and I lived there for three or four years with both my mom and pop, and I really liked it there. Well what I remember I liked. But one day my pop got this stupid idea in his head that he should take me on a training trip so that I could become A MAN AMONG MEN! Or some crap like that, so he packed me up left mom behind and took me out in the world to become what he hoped would be the world’s greatest martial artist."

"That still doesn’t explain why you haven’t been home since you were a little kid."

"Hold on would yah! I’m still getting to that part of the story."

"Oh sorry!" Was all that Summer could reply, but she did do that incredible well I might add!

"As I was saying, we started to train. Pop figured that I would become better if we went all around Asia and other parts of the world for our training, that way I would be well versed in the fighting styles of other nations. So we spent a few years traveling around Japan living in carious cities there, then we moved on to other countries like well like Canada for instance."

That made Summer jump, she just couldn’t figure out what kind of training you could get in Canada. "Ranma, I hate to interrupt you again but did you just say Canada?"

"Yeah, I just said Canada!"

"What kind of training could you possible get in Canada?"

"Hey you’d be surprised at the kind of things the hockey players over there can teach you. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah! We moved around to other countries and then I think about let’s see I think it was seven, no wait it was six months ago we went to do some training in China, which by the way I don’t even want to start talking about so don’t ask. And finally after China we decided to go to Hawaii for a while."

"But what about your mom? Did you ever see her again?"

"Oh! Her, I seem to remember pop saying something about her being dead a few months ago, but don’t worry I never really knew her anyway it’s not like it effects me or anything."

That last statement really got to Summer but she tried to shake it off. "Yeah, okay Ranma. So why are you going back to Japan? Are you part of the student exchange program to?"

"Uh, no not really, I’m just going back ‘cause I was told to. I get to stay with some family friends for a while. Well actually they aren’t my friends their more along the lines of my parents friends. Look if you don’t mind I’m kind of tired, and I’d sort of like to get a bit of sleep before we land. Okay?"

"Yeah, that’s fine with me Ranma!"

Back at the dojo.

Nabiki Tendo sat in her room with a scheme a brewing in her head, one that involved their guest that had yet to arrive. {Hmmm! If she’s cute I’ll probably be able to sell some pictures of her quite easily. But on the other hand if she’s a dog, pictures won’t do me any good will they? Hey! What do I care though it’s not like it matters to me, besides there are some guys in school who are in to the homely look. I can’t wait till she gets her!} With that Nabiki leaves her room to join the rest of her family for breakfast with one of her best smirks plastered on her face.

At the same time that Nabiki was thinking of plan to extort the family’s foreign visitor, Kasumi was in a series of deep thoughts as well. Thoughts that were so deep that she almost burnt lunch. {Oh, what if she doesn’t like my cooking? She’s probably not used to Japanese food, so she might find the way that I cook absolutely horrifying. True it won’t be as horrifying as Akanes is, but still she might find it disgusting. Oh my! I really am on pins and needles about this I’m starting to insult Akane. Well Kasumi just take deep relaxing breaths, I’ll worry about weather she likes my food when she gets here, and not until then. Wait what’s that I smell? OH MY! The food’s burning.} Kasumi quickly takes the food of the stove and looks at the grime sight before her.

"Oh well, maybe I can pass it off as Cajun style!"

As each of the Tendo girls worried about the appearance of Summer, Soun Tendo had another series of thoughts running threw his head. {Ranma’s coming, Ranma’s coming, at last the Soatomes and the Tendos will unite, HA! HA! HA! HA! Wait if Ranma’s coming that means that I’ll have to decide who he’ll marry Kasumi, Nabiki, or Akane! I know I’ll let him choose. Now where was I? Oh! Yes, Ranma’s coming, Ranma’s coming. MMMMM! Lunch.}

To the plane (Are you dizzy yet?).

Ranma stared out the window as the plane flew over Tokyo toward the airport, all the while emotions and thoughts that he hadn’t felt for along time where running threw his body. One thought in particular kept running threw his heart and mind. {I’m Home!}. Just then the Captain came on over the planes loudspeaker. ATTENTION! WILL ALL PASSENGERS PLEASE RETURN THEIR SEATS TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION, FASTEN THEIR SEATBELTS AND PREPARE FOR LANDING.

Ranma like all the other passengers followed the captains’ orders, and waited for the landing. When the plane had landed and come to a complete stop the captain came back over the loudspeaker. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THANK YOU FOR FLYING AIR JAPAN. IT IS 12:30 IN THE AFTERNOON WITH AN OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE OF 22 DEGRESS CELCIUS. THE CREW AND MYSELF ALL HOPE THAT YOU HAVE A LOVELY STAY IN JAPAN, ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU FOR FLYING AIR JAPAN.

As the pilot finished his speech Summer turned to Ranma and reached out to shake his hand, Ranma eagerly returned the gesture happy to finally rid himself of the chatterbox.

"Well Ranma it was… well it was, very nice to meet you, I guess."

"Yeah same here."

"Who knows maybe we’ll see each other around Tokyo or something."

"Ya never know, we might. Um, I better go. Bye Summer."

"Bye, Ranma."

With that the two parted ways, feeling joy at finally being able to escape, but at the same time feeling an ounce of sadness at losing the only person that they knew in a strange country.

END PART II.

Well there you go the end of part II, hope you liked it. I would like to thank Holly and Brandon for pre-reading this for me. Just to let you know I’m currently working on part III, but I have to figure a few things out with it first. Like how to get Akane and Ranma to meet, I have something already written sort of but I don’t really like it so I’m going to be changing it.
