I arrived home just after 10 p.m.. just getting in from work. After feeding the animals, I changed into my pj's and turned on the tv. Ready to catch up on a show my daughter and I are watching together..long distance. Our phone conversations go... did you see what happened on the show tonight? Can you believe what she did? Or can you tape the show? My daughter is one of my three children have become my dearest friends also. Upon reclining, I hit the message button on my answering machine. My son's voice came across the machine. He didn't sound good. I called him back, and he said he wasn't doing to well. With my pj bottom's still on, I drove the 20 miles to his place. The racing thoughts slowed as I talked to God along the way. The most beautiful display of norther lights danced in the sky. It made me think of a little girl I was lucky enough to know, Jenna. I came to know through the agency I work for years ago. Her family and mine became close. Her mother and I especially. Jenna was a beautiful two year ,with biggest dark brown eyes. I thought of her as the other daughter I had wanted when I was with her. I went into her home weekly and provided respite care for her family. Jenna and I spent alot of hours in the rocking chair, she had to use oxygen to breath at all times. She died at 2. At home with her family. The time with her also provided me the needed respite durning the day, from my own concern's about my son, he was in school now. They would page me it I need to come pick him up due to seziures. She was the closest thing to an angle here on earth. I could relate so much of what her mother was going through. The family, her older sister. (brothers and sister's of sblings no matter what age are very much effected by demands a person with a disability has. They showed me such strength and love. They experience the realily of life daily in there homes. They turn out to be amzing people in there own right. The most caring I have meet. This family will always be close to my heart. I have a photo of Jenna, it sets on the window seal just above my computer. She still inspires me today. The eveing moves on... Once at his apartment door I could hear him trying to get to the door. He was banging into things, his breathing was stressed. He tried to open the door but was not able to. Security opened the door for me, he was then laying on his bed in gran-mal seizure. I waited for another 10 minutes and then called 911. Come to find out he had been having seizures through-out the day. Stopping at periods and falling into a deep sleep, until to be awaken by another electrical storm within his brain. His started a 7 a.m. and lasted until I arrived after 10 p.m. He had fallen in the bath tub, while trying to take a shower in the am. At this point he was exhausted with the nausea that continued to come in waves, and another severe headache. |
