Here's what I affectionately referred to as "The Beast" as it looked on the day I brought it home on Sept. 2, 2005. I wasn't looking for a Baja, but it was there, and it was cheap. The best part: 2.0 liter Type IV power! |

| The first thing that had to go was the exhaust. Not only was it ugly... it was LOUD!!! On went a new Empi header and Quiet Pack muffler. Sounded much better! I had hoped to get the cage modified to fit with the new exhaust, but plans quickly changed... |

| While The Beast was a lot of fun, it was really there to try and fill my regret over selling my yellow '73. Unfortunately, it didn't work. The full roll cage meant there was no back seat, so any practicality was out the window. Besides, I wanted the look of a standard Beetle, and while The Beast had it's appeal, it's chopped body wasn't what I truly wanted. It was sold six moths later, after I'd stumbled upon "The Rat" in a nearby neighborhood... |
