Metal Claw

This is about mankinds destruction on nature.
I was living in Africa. The wide flat plains were my homeland. The hot sun beat down, Giving warmth to the soil, Helping the lush green grow, So the wilderbeast could eat. Those huge animals my prey. The males and cubs of the pride my family. Humans came our way often. Smelling and death and destruction. They came to churn up our beautiful territory. Making way for farm land, homes and roads. They never gave a thought to us, And other mammals who also lived. The monkeys that swung in the trees so green, They soon got killed by their masses, And birds too, Took flight to safer reaches of the earth. One day the Pride were and I were basking in the late afternoon sun, After a meanl of Zebra. My cubs were playing nearby, Practising pouncing. I heard a sound that stole my attension from the tranquility. Motioning my cubs into bush close by, Keeping them safe, I investigated the sound, Crouching low and still in the undergrowth, With curiosity and protection. What I saw made my very bones shudder in terror. My eyes fell upon a huge metal claw, And my enemy - The enemy of the world, A human sat controlling it. Eating up the bush, Destroying the trees, Where monkeys swung and birds did sing. A horrible crushing sound kept ringing in my ears. The bush where my beloved cubs lay, Being taken away each second, And they were fearful, Awaiting my safe return, But staying out of harms way. I hastened to this metal claw, Hoping to kill it, Wanting to stop its destruction. But the claw came down on my head, Crushing my skull. I roared in pain and fell to the ground, Trying in vain to rise, With the strength I had left. Again it came down with crushing vengence, Smashing my body. I became immersed in blood, It seemed every bone in my body was broken. The last thing I saw as I closed my eyes in death, Were my beautiful cubs. Fear Stricken and torn with sadness, At their mother's passing. They too met the same fate of innocent blood shed, And over powering greed. My darling died because humans wanted our land, To sate their passion for greed. They spared no thought for us, And we lived in harmony together.
