14 weeks Pregnant |
January 1, 2004 I am now 14 weeks pregnant. When I lie on my back I can feel a bulge where the baby is, which is really neat. Everytime I feel it I say hi to the baby. I haven't really felt the baby move yet, but I hope I will soon! We have our second OB/GYN appointment on Jan 9th, which I'm not really excited about, but this time we actually get to see the doctor so maybe it won't be as bad as our ast visit. There's a homebirth support group meeting near Champaign on Jan 7 (Full Moon too!) that I'm hoping Mike and I will go to. Maybe actually meeting a midwife and other homebirthing parents will help Mike become mre comfortable with the idea of birthing at home. I sure hope so. I'm looking at prices of cloth diapers and slings now. I'm trying to educate myself on the use of both. I like the idea of a sling (as does Mike) because I would like to be near the baby as much as possible and I don't like the idea of keeping baby in a stroller or car seat all the time. The cloth diapers really seem like the best choice for many reasons. They're a big expense at first (about $350 including everything we need) but in the long run they're much less expensive than disposables (which in the long run can cost over a thousand dollars before baby is potty trained). Plus, they're easier on baby's skin, diaper rash is much less frequent with cloths. I use cloth pads during my periods because they're cheaper, safer and far more comfy, so why wouldn't I extend the same comfort to my baby? There's also the environmental issue (land fills) which of course is very important. |
