17 weeks Pregnant |
January 22, 2004 I am now 17 weeks pregnant with our precious baby. Right now I'm checking out information on infanct vaccinations, as we're planning on vaxing selectively. I see no real point in paying a doctor to pump my child full of synthetic chemicals unless I feel they're at risk for whatever the vaccine is protecting the child from. Hep.B is on shot we'll be avoiding since I'm Hep.B-, no one who will be caring for the baby will be HepB+, which leaves the only (common) methods of transmission blood transfusion, which most babies never need and sexually transmitting, and I don't think my infant will be sexually active. I'm also looking at Attachment Parenting websites. Another suitable name of AP would be instinctive parenting, since that's pretty much what AP is. You develop a very close relationship with your children through things like co-sleeping, extended/exclusive breastfeeding, baby wearing (using baby slings), learning baby's cues, responding to their needs and basically keeping in mind that babies and children are young people who deserve and need love, trust, comfort and respect. Sounds good to me! I'm very much looking forward to breastfeeding. I've even had breastfeeding dreasm! Not since my brother David was an infant have I sen a mother breastfeeding up close, until the first homebirth support group meeting. While we were there one of the mothers was nursing her baby daughter, in a room full of likeminded women (and a couple men) and even though she was nursing discreetly it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I've read so many times of mothers describing the feelings they experience as their little one nurses and stare into mama's eyes. I can hardly wait to experience such wonderful things! |
