Islamized Armenians of Adiyaman area
Hyusni-Mansur or Adiyaman is a city, facing the banks of Euphrates river. It is located on the old Roman military and trade road, which connects Malatia and Carchemish, being an important juncture.
Adiyaman city and area around it has a population of about 10.000 people (early 20th century),
whose majority is of Armenian origin, although muslim (see, Encyclopedie de l'Islam, vloume B, p. 348).
This view is shared by Sargis Temirchean, who says that Adiyaman's Turks are tolerant and friendly towards Armenians. (see, History of Adiyaman, Paykhar newspaper, March 30, 1950).
The city's biggest Turkish family-clan, named Mollazade, was actually the family by the last name of Eaghupeans (Yaghupian family), who were forced to accept islam. (Paykhar, August 31, 1937).
