Elrond!
Name
Meaning: Star dome.
Family:
Husband of Celebrian. Father of Elladan, Elrohir and Arwen. Son off Earendil and
Elwing.
Origin: Rivendell
Role in Lord or the Rings: Where to start? I'll write a quick list whichi hope covers his more important points.
He was the one who took Isildur into mount doom to destroy the ring. (Though Isildur went and kept it) Also he led an Elven army in the battle before hand/
Healed Frodo after he was shot by a poison. Without him Frodo would be dead.
In the book: Started the flood that swept the ring wraiths down the ford. (That's the river crossing for those who don't know) Though Gandalf added the horses.
Is the leader (king?) of Rivendell.
Hosted the "council of Elrond" that decided the fate of the ring.
Is known as a valuable source off knowledge. people come for miles for his council.
Is a great healer. one off the best of not the best.
Ordered for "the blade that was broken" to be repaired. though it was Arwen's plan.
Told Galadriel to send Haldir (and army) to Helm's deep.
And I'm sure there are many
more that I have forgotten.
Personality: Extremely intelligent. Has a habit off appearing aloof. Also is always serious and can appear stem. and even frightening. (Known for his glare on other humour sites) Though there is a side to Elrond that a lot off people can't see. And that's the caring father side. There is nothing Elrond loves more than Arwen. Which is why he try's to talk her out of loving Aragorn. He KNOWS how she will feel when he dies. because that is how he feels himself towards his wife, Celebrian. The more you learn about Elrond, the more you realise just how different he is than what he appears.
And for those who disagree about Elrond's love for Arwen. Just look at how pleased to see her, he was when she came back from going to the grey havens. He wanted her there, but KNEW it was not best for her. So don't anyone say to me that he is not a good father!
Why didn't Elrond just push Isildur into Mount doom?
The stupidity of some people amazes me. Isildur was Elrond's FRIEND. (or at least ally) You don't just push your friends into a volcano! Even if you knew they were evil you may not! And at that point Elrond did not know the true evil of the ring. maybe he hopped that now Sauron was "dead" the ring would lose it's evilness (yes that IS a word). And for those off you who still don't agree or say that they would have done so in his place. There was no opportunity for Elrond to push Isildur in! Elrond was at the edge and Isildur was by the door! He was out of that cave before Elrond even had a chance to say his name! Elrond would have had great trouble pushing Isildur in even if he hated him and wanted nothing more than to kill him. (Just watch the scene).
