Glorfindel!
The above picture is Glorfindel, as he would have appeared in the film, had
they not cut him out. (The picture is an official one from the makers of the
film or whatever) However all i can say is thank god, they cut Glorfindel out
and replaced his role with Arwen, because that is NOT how Glorfindel is supposed
to look. (Though he is cute, i can't deny that)
Name: Glorfindel
Role in the film: None.
Role in the Book (Fellowship of the ring): He was sent, by Elrond, to find
Aragorn and the hobbits before they got to Rivendell. It was his horse, Asfaloth
(both film and book, though Arwen rode Asfaloth in the film) that took Frodo to
rivendell. Though Glorfindel did fight the Ring wraiths instead of just running.
Later he has a seat at Elrond's council.
Also in the first age of Middle earth there is reference to an elf named
Glorfindel who defeated a Balrog, dying in the process. A lot of people believe
that Glorfindel was later reborn, others think he is simply an different
Glorfindel. I like to believe the reborn theory. Either way, Glorfindel is a
warrior, and one of the elf Lords and the guy in the above picture does not look
like either. After all Glorfindel's hair was described as "Golden" not
"extremely pale blond".
