CARES: ABC is designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of a child's academic and adaptive behavior skills.  CARES: ABC is also designed to fully provide a functional behavior analysis.  The CARES: ABC extended assessment provides a dynamic approach for a comprehensive evaluation that facilitates an optimal match between the development of effective teaching methods and each child's unique developmental and behavioral needs.

CARES: ABC provides a comprehensive and multidisciplinary evaluation in our diagnostic classroom setting.

The evaluation includes:

· 57 hours of classroom diagnostic teaching over 30 calendar days
· A complete academic skill evaluation
· Functional behavioral analysis
· Use of standardized and observational assessment techniques
· Home-based evaluation of behavioral/self-help skills
· Intake assessment with Alan Lincoln, Ph.D.
· A Psychological/developmental evaluation
· A Speech and Language Evaluation
· An Occupational Therapy Evaluation
· Parent Education
·  1:1 child/teacher ratio
· Parent Training
· Attendance at the IEP if requested
· A comprehensive written report
· Interdisciplinary evaluation which may also include:

Pediatric Neurological Evaluation**
Audiological Evaluation**
Vision Evaluation**

· Teacher training to assist with transition from CARES: ABC to permanent classroom placement. **

Autism and Asperger Syndrome Therapy Groups

Group 1:  Adults with Autism ages 18 and over: 
                Tuesdays 6-7:30 p.m.

Group 2:  Children with Autism ages 6-8

Group 3:  Children with Asperger's Syndrome ages 9-12

Group 4:  Adolescents with Autism ages 13-15

Groups 2-4 will be held on
Tuesdays or Thursdaysfrom 3:30-4:45 p.m.  Groups will run for 8 weeks led by two supervisors at C.A.R.E.S.  The group leaders will provide a semi-structured environment, supporting and encouraging socialization, peer interaction, discussions, and a safe and supportive environment, to foster peer interaction..  A protion of each session will b dedicated to participating in a group game or activity.  They will take place at the CARES offices in Mira Mesa close to the 805 fwy.
