Weeks 19-24:
Week 19 (5/26/02):

Sunday, 5/26/02:  We had to go to a different church today, but Gene did pretty well with the change.
Week 20 (6/2/02): Gene did fine again during the chelation weekend (Round Two).  Nothing really out of the ordinary; however, when Dad called on the phone, Gene wanted to talk to him.  He spoke back and forth, mostly with yes and no's, but when he was done he said "See ya later" or some other expression that was not normal for him.  Gene has had a couple of difficult days (M & T) at school - Monday, he fell asleep during math and non-compliance during T pm.  He did have some difficult days following the last chelation round...they seemed to align with when I dropped use of Taurine, so I am keeping him on it off cycle too.
Week 21 (6/9/02): We had another chelation weekend (Round Three).  Gene has had some difficult days again (Sun at church, M & W at STAR), but school he was fine - Dawn brought him some goodies (more enzymes, Molybdenum, epsom salt lotion, etc.) from the talk she went to on Saturday.

Sunday, he was very agitated - I thought it was because he didn't do "his 3 things" (ie: go to the boys bathroom, wash his hands, go to girls bathroom to use the toilet - he doesn't like boys bathroom toilets usually (I don't blame him :-) ), but he said no...? I had started him on Molybdenum and gave him some epsom salt lotion on his back, so I stopped them.

Monday, he was very emotional - crying at everything.

Wednesday,.  he was doing well until he wasn't chosen to be 4th in snack, nor for indoor play.

Thursday, ... this was odd...I was running out of time in the morning, so Gene only got his regular vitamin supplement (the Yummy Bears) -- not ibed, SNT, acid., Taur, Gly, Chol... --- I cancelled his B & G Club because I was anticipating that due to this, he would have a bad day.  Well, to my amazement, he was so calm, not competing for talk time nor interupting; he seemed ... better than normal(!)  So I decided to drop the extras for a couple of days and not do any DMSA chelation this weekend (I might try ALA by itself, though...)  Perhaps his body needs a rest.  I know there have been numerous reports of the SNT causing hyperness - the NoPhenol was supposed to help with that - but I only gave it with his evening dose.  I think I will keep him off the SNT for a while.

Friday Well, the refill of DMSA came in the mail today and Gene seemed rested and doing well, so I went forward with this, his Fourth Round; this time I added ALA.
Week 22 (6/16/02): We had no problems with the chelation weekend and having to go every three hours.  Might've noticed a little more "with it" behavior, but still not a lot of difference.

Thursday Ack, at Bs*Gs Club they gave him a donut!  I gave him his enzymes immediately; didn't notice anything happening ... phew.

Friday:  This will be his Fifth Round; and I will again add ALA.  At STAR today, when Gene arrived at the group's table, he waited patiently while the children moved down and he said, "Hi Sunny, you have on a pink shirt; I like your shirt.  I have on a green shirt with blue stripes."  All the teachers were surprised.  Michelle said, "Gene, I have on a green shirt too!"  He responded, "So does Tomo!"
Week 23 (6/23/02): We had no problems with the chelation weekend except that Gene told me Sunday night that he was very tired, as well as Monday AM...and on Monday AM, I am a basket case -- woke up for Gene's 2:30am med and didn't go back to sleep 'cuz I was afraid I wouldn't wake up in time for the 5:30(!)  STAR is on break this week.

Thursday: Gene was awarded with a Trimester Award / End of Year Award for "Social Studies" for his map/geography/directional abilities and ability to help others!

Friday: Started Round Six a bit earlier this week; Gene has minimum day (last day of school) with ALA.
Week 24 (6/30/02): Just looking back at the past week and it does seem that Gene does better on the chelation meds, has a few hard days after being withdrawn from them and then does has improvements toward the end of the week (Th / Fri).  Next week I may begin the chelation a day early since Gene will be off from school.

Sunday: Gene did very well in church today.  There was a big line-up for the boys bathroom (everyone was taking forever) and then a boy cut in front (which of course agitated Gene), but he was very patient each time he had to wait.  He sang the songs and was pretty calm (even though we didn't have a seat).  The DMSA for this round will complete today, but I will continue with the ALA through middle of Monday.

Well, Gene has been having some really hard days at STAR.  Kicking, hitting ... not sure if it is the weather since it is very hot now and there is no air conditioning.  It seems like he starts off fine up through outdoor play and then when it gets to the inside work, he is very irritable.  I decided that I will start up again more aggressively on the No-Phenol / GSE (in case it is yeast-related) and give him a rest from the chelation (ie not start on Friday) and see if it makes any difference.

Saturday: We spent the afternoon at Dad's in the boat - went to his construction site - the kids threw rocks, swimming off the boat - Rebecca fished, and water-skiing.  Gene really enjoyed the swimming / throwing rocks / jumping off the boat -- like for an hour or more.  And he never seemed to get tired!  While he was in the water, his verbal skills just seemed better...
