Gene's Timeline: |
Week 67 (4/27/03): Sunday: Gene was pretty normal at church; he did fine. Monday: Gene had a great day!! He worked for going for a hamburger and french fries. Tuesday: Gene had another good day! Yea! He worked for special brownies. Wednesday: Wow! 3 days in a row - he's on a roll. Thursday: Well, Gene did have a problem today, but the teacher explained it to me and at least it was understandable - she said that he had been sitting next to the little girl he likes and when she was chosen, in Music, to play the drum (and left his side), he became very upset. He also told me himself that he was upset that he was raising his hand to play an instrument and didn't get called. I was told too that while he was separated, he got a lot(!) accomplished since he didn't have any distractions -- in fact the teacher said that he was getting more done than anyone else and therefore had no homework that night! Friday: Today, Gene had a bit of a hard time too, but he was able to reverse his sad face to a happy face by working hard independently so overall that was good. Saturday: Gene had his swimming today and did great! |
Week 68 (5/4/03): I believe this week was rather up and down - sometimes very good and then with some dips. However, I have just noticed that Gene is beginning to look at people on the bus when he says good bye to them. This is great!! Also he seems to be doing very well at the Boys and Girls Club. I might have mentioned it before, but one of the girls there (at checkin) said that he is talking more and conversing with the other kids there - when he is at the table drawing. He has even said hello and goodbye to her using her name! She didn't even know he knew her name (neither did I -- I didn't even know her name!! :-) ) Sunday: Gene was pretty normal at church; he did fine; a little anxious to get going, though. |
Week 69 (5/11/03): This week Gene's normal bus driver was off - it seemed to go okay. Sunday: Monday: Gene got all stars and a happy face today. Teacher said he was very tired; slept and then helped teacher - didn't push doing PE - that seems to be the area with which he has problems. Tuesday: OOps -- he started throwing pencils in Math (usually his best time...) then was good until about lunch and did the hitting/pinching thing and was isolated the rest of the day. Wednesday: He got all stars today, but did have some times when he wasn't very compliant. They started working with him in a more isolated corner of the room. Thursday: He got all stars today - they said that they are doing alternative PE activities vs in a big group and that seemed to work much better. Friday: Oops -- Gene did not start off well - in the first rotation (Math) he was hitting and kicking the wall, but then redeemed himself and was great the rest of the day. Gene said goodbye to the people on the bus, but also added "Have a nice day!" Saturday: Gene was great all morning - there used to be times when he would wake up with a black cloud over his head and run away or get angry as soon as I would come downstairs. Now that doesn't seem to happen; in fact today, he was elated to see me, calling out to me before I even had a chance to say "Good Morning" Gene worked very hard in swimming today. |
Week 70 (5/18/03): A good week. Sunday: Gene was not really having a great day today - some angry spurts. Monday: Today Gene had a "Great Day" both on the bus and at school (and home). He recd all stars and earned French Fries. He drew a picture of a racecar (something different!) and gave a very "normal" response about what he thought about (what we were having for) dinner -- "Fine" with normal intonation. Tuesday: Gene recd all stars except in Math (not paying attention :-( --) Wednesday: All stars! Thursday: All Stars! Friday: All stars! Saturday: |
Week 71 (5/25/03): Sunday: . Monday: Today was a holiday. Tuesday: Gene recd all stars and a note that he had a Great Day! Wednesday: Not good in the AM Thursday: All Stars! Friday: All stars! Saturday: Gene swam today |
Week 72 (6/1/03): Sunday: I noticed that Gene was a bit anxious and then Gene said that Paul had told him that Gene had eaten some McD's cookies (!) Ack! Monday: Today when Gene was getting on the bus, Brad said, "Hi, Gene" he said "hi"; Brad asked, "How are you?" he said, "fine" Then as he was walking back to a seat, he asked, "Where should I sit, Brad?" (!!!) I've never heard him ask that question -- perhaps someone was sitting in his regular seat. So Brad said he could sit anywhere and he did without a problem. Tuesday: Gene had some sad faces for "disrespectful talk" ... he told me that he was talking about someone pooping in their pants(!) At dinner, I asked him if he wanted a hamburger before we went shopping and he said "yes." Everyone wanted a hamburger so I started making them. He said he wanted a turkey burger. I told him that was fine but he would have to wait. Of course he wasn't happy when everyone else was eating and not him, but I think it was good for him to see effects of his decisions. Then when he had his plate he went over to Rebecca and Christopher and said, "Hi guys, can I join you?" (!!!) And sat right in between the two of them(!) WOW!!! Wednesday: Gene had some more sad faces in the morning, but did fine in the afternoon... so no McD's. Thursday: Gene had a good day; he chose Famous Family Restaurant. When we got to BGC, it was cute 'cuz he grabbed my hand and said, "Come on, Mom; let's go up to wash our hands!" (he still likes bathrooms!) Friday: Gene had another good day today. Saturday: Gene was having a bit of a grumpy day (or rather oppositional) |
