Earning your Living on the Isle

You registered as some type of profession when entering Crystal Shores..now is the time to act upon it and support yourself. But, you soon find that there's no 'regularly scheduled payday' for a freelance Knight with no order. Or that the pages the new Bard writes have no buyers. So how can you sustain yourself? In a myriad of ways.

You can write for the Sandpaper (This is open to all registered citizenry, not just the bards) and if your submission is chosen for publication, you will be paid a varying sum. You can inquire in the Bazaar at any given shop if they are looking for counterhelp, or stockhands, or perhaps you wish to apprentice with one of the Merchants and soon open your own shop? It's all possible.

Or, if you're not one who does well with writing or selling, you might wish to see what Guilds may interest you. Most Guildmasters pay their members a monthly stipend, or salary. Or perhaps you wish to form your own guild: With proper guidance from the Help Desk, this too is possible, after you've begun to establish yourself, showing yourself as a colonist with a shared vision with the people, that of wishing to contribute to the Society.

Some private citizens might employ bodyguards, domestics..others comb the beaches and hawk their wares (*GM note: Prior approval is needed to sell beach items and transactions will take place in the presence of a host for proper documentation). As a sordid sidenote, yes, prostitutes are paid for their work. (GM Note: This does NOT mean cybersexing or having simulated sex on the main. Refer to the Rules on this matter. Prostitutes working alone might find much danger, so there is an established Escort Agency, which is a bit more elegant to work for, as one is paid for their time and not the use of their body, solely. But this profession is recommended only as a last resort..

None need starve here, and most can find showcases for their unique talents.

There are some unfortunates on the Isle; some have been felled with mental or physical problems requiring a stay at Wonderland. As the Department of Tourism, we are not going into extra detail on this facility except to define it: An asylum for the mentally unfit.

There is also the Ship of Fools for those finding themselves banished for breaking the rules of the Island. These rules would entail things such as (OOC) failure to comply with the rules and hosts, (OOC) harassment, both verbal and sexual, (OOC) plagiarism, hacking, and other server violations. Forfeiture of character and character names come with banishment. This is a last resort and something we do not take pleasure in levying.

Presumptions of Death occur after we've not seen you for an extended period of time, say eight weeks. Bodies are occasionally found around the Island, and tentative identifications are made. If you've been presumed dead--and aren't-- you should contact the Help Desk right away so they can right your records.

What happens between arrival, working, and death, for someone who lives within the socially acceptable rules?

That is what we urge you to find out for yourself. We wish you great health, wealth and happiness. It's there to be found, and up to you to find.

Thank you for visiting the Department of Tourism. Please visit the links within, as well as the Main Site for the full rules, services, and premise of the Isle of Crystal Shores IRC Roleplaying Game.
