Clothes: She wears a black tanktop under a short-sleeved, orange zip-up hoodie vest with blue jeans and a pair of black slip-on shoes. Around her neck she wears a stainless steel chain with a small dragon-shaped pendant hanging from it that serves as her primary Oversoul medium. On her left wrist she wears a bracelet comprised of a red band with a pattern of yellow stars on it which she received from Hao. Other Accessories: She is often seen to be carrying a messenger bag the contents of which include a small journal, a portable CD player, headphones and a metallic CD carrying case that resembles a movie reel. At any given time she is also usually in possession of some manner of handheld gaming device. A small digital watch with a blue fabric band is typically velcroed to the strap of the bag which when consulted is always 5 minutes fast. Hobbies: At times it seems that she feels more at home with nature and the latest technology than she does with people, but she also feels very strongly about the value of friendship and as such enjoys spending time with her friends as long as they seem to want her around. Nature settings like rivers and waterfalls are among some of her favorite places to visit. Given the opportunity she also enjoys climbing trees and weather permitting there are few things that might discourage her from wandering off to stargaze. She works well with computers and knows her way around the Internet which serves her just as well for entertainment purposes as it does for gathering information on various subjects including astronomy, chemistry, philosophy, physics, quantum mechanics and string theory. On top of all that she is also a fan of various Anime and Manga titles, enjoys certain types of RPG style video games, and generally likes anything that she feels has a good story to it. It should come as no surprise then that she regards herself as something of a storyteller. Faults: She suffers from low self-esteem which is further exacerbated by her tendency to blame herself for things that are well beyond her control. Personality: She is generally passive and has an idealistic attitude toward the world that sometimes works against her, but is perhaps one of the most enduring aspects of her identity. It is her personal belief that there is good in everyone although sometimes it can be hard to find it either because they are unable to see it in themselves or because they simply refuse to act on it. She has a certain amount of sensitivity to the emotions of those around her which sometimes prompts her to keep her distance when the atmosphere becomes heavy with negativity, but otherwise she uses this sensitivity to decide for herself whether or not she feels welcome in a particular group setting. It is also for this reason that she tries to avoid exhibiting these negative emotions herself although sometimes people find her capacity for remaining even tempered far more alarming than if she were to actually get angry. Occupation(s): Shaman, Elemental User, Self-Proclaimed Writer Personal History Key Events: Crystal had a strong connection to the spiritual world from a young age although she herself was almost totally unaware of it. She studied martial arts for about six years while she was in elementary and middle school. She and some of her friends were interested in the occult and took to experimenting with some of the more benign practices such as healing and weather manipulation. As she became further integrated into society she was gradually pulled away from those activities and almost managed to convince herself that any successful experiments had merely been the product of her overactive imagination. However, a chance encounter with Hao reinforced her with the knowledge that everything that had happened was in fact very real and that she shouldn't try to brush it off so easily. Curiousity led her to the Shaman Fight in Tokyo although she was quick to withdraw upon reaching the Patch Village when circumstances led her to believe that her abilities needed to be put toward another purpose. ------Primary Spirit------ Name: Taki Date of Birth: Unknown Details: Taki is the spirit of a waterfall and something of a benevolent troublemaker. Being a nature spirit and an embodiment of the water elemental she is fully capable of altering her physical shape although her true form appears to be some kind of translucent liquid serpentine dragon. Despite this she is rather eccentric and is more commonly seen in the form of a small black kitten, mostly for the sake of irony. This innate shapeshifting capability is complimented by the fact that it enables her to assume any form that might be supplemented by Crystal's imagination when she engages her Oversoul making the pair of them an ideal combination. ------Shamanic Powers------ Martial Arts ~ Crystal has a very basic understanding of martial arts and while she isn't very strong physically she has been known to outwit stronger opponents with her strategizing skills. Weather Manipulation ~ Crystal has a talent for being well-tuned with her environment and has demonstrated on several occasions that she has the capacity to make it rain when she feels like it given enough time and concentration. This ability is amplified significantly when she engages her Oversoul with Taki. The reverse is also true in that she can cause a storm to dissipate if it doesn't suit her although this skill is used a lot less frequently. Defensive Barriers ~ Crystal is capable of producing a variety of energy fields that serve different purposes depending largely on her willpower and motivation. Most of the time this amounts to generating a sort of invisible bubble that surrounds what is usually taken to represent her personal space to shield herself from the negative emotional energy that might be hanging in the air around her. It can also be noted that this is generally something she does without actually thinking about it. Shikigami ~ Because of the way she interacts with the world around her Crystal also has the ability to cause nature spirits in the surrounding area to materialize in various forms to suit her needs. Incidentally, this is something she was capable of even before she became aware of her powers although once she actually learned how to control those powers it became a much more valuable asset to her. Hyoi Gattai ~ Crystal can and occasionally does integrate Taki directly into her body, but this is more for show than anything else on account of the fact that Crystal is probably more adept in combat than her spirit ally. Oversoul ~ Crystal has an incredibly varied Oversoul given that the shape and associated combat abilities are essentially whatever she might feel like at a particular moment. This gives her a lot of freedom and flexibility at the cost of consistency. Elemental Manipulation ~ Crystal essentially engaged in a lot of trial and error to adapt a system based on the use of 10 elemental types just to see if she could. This system incorporates earth, air, fire, water, lightning, metal, wood, ice, light and darkness with various effects dependant on the situation in which they are utilized. Crystal primarily uses the ice and fire elementals to change the temperature around her when she is feeling too hot or too cold even though there are plenty of other practical applications for them. |
