Time Dilation Lesson Plan
SUBJECT:  Science

GRADE LEVEL: 8th

TOPIC: An overview of Time Dilation

OBJECTIVE: To make students aware of the concept that time is relative, and not static.

MATERIALS NEEDED: Power Point presentation, computer for students with internet connection

PROCEDURE: Introduce time dilation as a fancy way of saying time travel to catch student attention.  Introduce the three concepts needed to understand time dilation, the speed of light, spatial dimensions, and a light clock.  After explaining the concepts show example of the light clock on the internet and allow students to manipulate the clock so they can see for themselves. Check for understanding.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN/STRATEGY
I will use the take five method, if the class is becoming to get a little to loud I would raise my hand and call out "give me five". Then student will have about 5 seconds to quiet down and focus.

1.Explain, 2.Rehearse, 3.Reinforce. I will go through the 3 steps inorder to get students into the habit of preforming the procedures that are excepted of them.

Establish the difference between discipline or rules and procedures.  Having a procedure to follow is easier to the younger stundents because they are in the stage of life where procedures are to be followed and rules are make to be broken or bent.
