Flags
Flags are a very important part of any organization.  Flags present a sense of pride and belonging whether it is an American flag, pack flag or den flag.  Flags also provide a rally point for the boys and identify your den from the rest.
American Flag
An American flag should be displayed at all den and pack meeting with exception meeting out side the regular location.  The American flag is be a important part of the opening of den/pack meetings.  The flag needs to be in good condition and displayed in accordance with
Your Flag, Everything You Wanted to Know About the Flag of the United States of America, a BSA publication.  To the left is the proper layout for a pack meeting.  If you want to go the extra mile you can practice honor guard maneuvers with a den size American flag.  It is a 15"x24" American flag and can be easily mounted on a flagpole.
Den Flags:
Den flags can be an important part of a den.  The flag provides the boys with pride with in them selves and their den.  Den flags also develop espy décor, the camaraderie needed for a successful den.
For the purposes of uniformity there are some guidelines we need to follow with Den flags.  Official BSA, Den flags are available at the scout shop.  It is a good product, nicely printed, and ties are already sown on for attaching on the flagpole.  The other option is to make your own den flag.  Tiger, Wolf and Bear den flags need to be no bigger then 15"x22".  They can be of any color and have any logo of your den's choosing.  The only restrictions on flag designs for the cub dens is that if they show a prominent animal on the flag that it be the animal of that den, i.e. tiger, wolf or bear.  The den number must be displayed in the top corner farthest from the flagpole.  Iron-on Den flag numbers are available at the scout shop.
Webelos because of their seniority and rank have a certain level of prestige in the pack.  This is in part reflected in their flag designs.  Webelos den flags can be of any type and size as long it is not larger then the pack flag (3'x5').  The design on the flag should have the animal totem of that den.  If it does not then the den number must be displayed in the upper right corner of the flag.
Den flags should be on display and part of the pack meeting's flag ceremonies.  When the scouts are called to salute the flag the den and pack flags are dipped as seen on the left.
