Summer/Winter Camp
No single thing will keep your son interested in scouting like camp will.  It is a time where they can learn things that would be safer in a more controlled environment.  Most of the camps include a t-shirt and patch in with the enrolment fees.  Camps typically will have two enrollment deadlines.  The first will have a reduced price and is typically a month or so before and the second usually is the first day of camp.
The most popular activities for camp is swimming, BB gun and archery.  Highly trained personnel run all three events.  Some of the range personnel are former military and are familiar with marksmanship education.
