NCSA Mosaic

The first point-and-click browser.   Mosaic was developed in 1993 at the National Center for Supercomputer Applications at the University of Illinois.   
 

Netscape Navigator

Is a popular and influential Web browser.  Navigator was the first commercial Web browser.  It is developed by Netscape- a young company founded in 1994 by some of the developers of Mosaic.  The interface for this browser is shown below.


 
 

Microsoft Internet Explorer

Microsoft was late entering the browsers market.  However its aggressive marketing approach and good design strategy make Internet Explorer (IE for short) a real competitor.  Internet Explorer is available for all popular platform including Windows, X Window, and Macintosh.  The graphical interface for IE4 follows.
