Educational background

 

MPhil. Environmental Science, University of Ghana, Legon.  Subjects for written examination included: Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Law, Remote Sensing, Water Resource management and Forest Resource Management.  Topic of thesis was: The Impacts of Tourism on the Coastal Zone of Ghana.  Main aim of the study was to identify the impacts of tourism on the biophysical and human environment of the coastal zone of Ghana using Ada-Foah and Elmina, both well-known tourist destinations.

 

·         1993 – 1998:

B.Sc. (Hons.) Zoology / Botany, University of Cape Coast (2nd Class Upper division).  Final Year project work was: Differences in the leaves of four species of Citrus.  The main aim of the project work was to identify any differences in the leaf epidermal structure between species of Citrus, namely C. reticulata, C. paradisi, C. sinensis and C. limon.

Work experience

 

Principal Organiser (Gender and Environment) Centre for Social Policy Studies (CSPS), University of Ghana, Legon. Main duties include networking with organisations with similar areas of interest and research, organising training programmes and workshops, and conducting research into issues of gender and the environment.

 

 

Research Assistant Development and Women’s Studies (DAWS) Office, Institute of African Studies University of Ghana. Main activities included assisting in the preparation of research proposals and fieldwork.

 

Assisted in the preparation for a curriculum for a planned international undergraduate course on Environmental Studies in Ghana by the Institute of African Studies University of Ghana.  Main duties included the preparation of a bibliography and acting as a Rapporteur.

 

Science Tutor Dormaa Secondary School.  Taught Core Science in Forms One and Two and Elective Biology in Forms Two and Three.

 

Administrative assistant Ga District Assembly.  Worked with a woman’s NGO in organising women from the communities in and around the Ga District, organised meetings and workshops and assisted in selection of community based projects for funding.
