Color

The color song (to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb)
I like purple
Oh, yes I do,
Yes I do,
Yes I do.
I like purple
Oh, yes I do.
Purple is a flower.
You can sing this song with many variations! Have the students help you think of things for each color.
Green is a turtle/leaf/frog
Red is a flower/tomato
Blue is a crayon/sky/butterfly
Yellow is a sun/flower/banana

For the children to have a true understanding of how colors are mixed to make other colors, allow them to mix red, blue, and yellow paint to find the secondary colors (orange, green, and purple). Give limited guidance and let them experiment for themselves.

Math:
* sort M&Ms or Gummi Bears by colors
* count to find the total for each color
* make a graph using the data collected above.
* graph the students' favorite colors.
Predictable Sentence:
* I like blue.
* My favorite color is green.
* My shirt is red.

I Can Sing a Rainbow
Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too!
Listen to your heart,
Listen to your heart,
And sing everything you feel,
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too!
