The Andania was launched on March 23, 1913 and completed in July of the same year. She made her maiden voyage on July 17, 1913 from Liverpool to Montreal, then London to Montreal. In the Winter she sailed the London-Halifax and Boston service. On October 14, 1914 she was requisitioned as a troop transport until March 18, 1916. In 1916 she joined the Alaunia on the London to New York route and made her first voyage on this route March 18. On January 27, 1918 the Andania was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-46 two nautical miles north of the Rathlin Island lighthouse. Seven dead.
