The Carinthia (III) was launched on December 14, 1955 by Princess Margaret and completed in June 1956. She made her maiden voyage on June 27, 1956 from Liverpool to Montreal. During the winter she sailed on the Liverpool to New York service. In 1967 she was painted white and was used for cruising only. In January 1968 she was sold to the Fairland Shipping Corp, Monrovia and renamed Fairland. The ship was intended for the Sitmar Line’s Southampton to New Zealand service, but was laid up at Southampton. On February 21, 1970 she arrived at Trieste and was refitted as a cruise liner. Her tonnage was changed to 21,916 GRT. In 1971 she was renamed Fairsea and was registered in Monrovia under the ownership of the Fairsea Shipping Corp. In July 1972 she was back in service after rebuilding as a cruise liner for 884 passengers. Her tonnage had been reduced to 16,627 GRT. She currently is used for cruising from US Ports.
