I found this car on Vashon Island. Made two trips. First to look and buy, second to tow home. I will post it's progress from time to time. I have already put a new master cylender as well as rear wheel cylenders and shoes. I started her no problem. Then I took her for a ride, the 302 is in need of major help. Now I am deciding wether to fix it or replace it with a 429. The moter is not original, so it is just what is more cost effetive.
Guess I have my delema solved. On oct. 5th at 11 am out in Tokland she cought fire under the hood. Now it has become a major project so stock is out the window..
Today a friend from our fire dept. came down and we researched what happned. Seems the float stuck open and the top gasket on the carb leaked fuel onto the intake manifold. It ran down the back and into the starter. When I hit the key that was all she wrote. Amazed me how he backtracked the fire to root cause.
Well now I have to test fit windows to see how much worpage there is and if it is structuraly sound..
I found another 68 and am weighting for them to pull the drive train. Will soon be able to start on her.
Then the fire on her first hiway trip
