I found two family coat of arms tied to the Stallings name. One is directly tied to Nicholas Stallings. I am currently trying to tie in to the Georgia/ North Carolina group. The family cemetary is in Van Zandt county Texas (Ellis Chapel). I attended my randfathers funeral there a few years ago. My great grandfathers name was Jacob Stallings. I have talked with Ms. Kennedy who is working in the same fog concerning Samuel T Stallings who was captured in the Civil War. Any advice you have I would greatly a preciate. Hi..just reviewed the Ligon pages..thanks for the info...really informational. My g g g grandmother, Susanah was the daughter of John Ligon. One of her sons, Stephan Ann Farmer,born 1815 in Smith Cty Tenn, was my great great grandfather. I am having tr uble finding out the first name of his father, Susannah's husband. I think it was Wm. but can't corroborate. Our family bible only states that he left for New Orleans on a raft loaded with ax handles in 1824 and was never heard from again. By any stretc , would you have any data on that? We have all kinds of Ligon names in the old bible. I am interested in the query I saw on the Stanford roots today, re: Stanford's of Mecklenburg, N. C. I have done quite a lot of research on my Stanford branch. At the American History Center in Austin, Texas, there is a document (Muster roll), listing a Jonathan Stanford, who was a volunteer from Mecklenburg Co., N.C., and served in the military during the Texas Revolution with Mexico. Surprisingly his age was, I believe, 63. It gave a physical description of him, and his father's name was Joseph of Gr yson County, Virginia. Jonathan was born in Virginia. He had joined a volunteer group from Charlotte, N. C., and his Captain was Capt. Harry whose occupation was listed as: jeweler. I have never found anyplace where he fits into my Stanford branch, exc pt the certificate for land he was given for serving in the military was assigned to a man by the name of Bernard Ceraher (may be mispelled), and the land was in Collin County, Texas, where many of my Stanford's lived. Mine were from Tennessee. My Thoma Stanford was born ca. 1790 in South Carolina, then went to Tn., then Texas, then back to Tn. His sons Harrison, Joseph and Thomas, Jr. (my ancestor), all came to Texas during the days of the Republic and raised families and left many descendants in Texa . I proved my heritage this last year and am now a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. This is about all I know of the Mecklenburg, N. C., Stanford's. Good luck to you on your search. My maiden name was CONNELLY. This is the line that I am really at a deadend on. I know my grandfather's name - though have quite a bit of conflicting data there even. He was Clarence James CONNELLY/CONLEY but know earlier as Charles C., sometimess James, sometimes Jim. Supposidly he changed the spelling of his surname because he was mad at some of the CONNELLY'S. I do not know which way h changed it. He was born abt 1872 to 1875 possibly in Marshalltown, Marshall Co., Iowa (or near there?). Clarence James' mother was Elizabeth HANNAH b in NY or OH? I believe I have found my grandfather in West Union City, Fayette Co. Iowa in 1880 at age 6 with Lizzie Conley, age 35 b IA. a border listed with Daniel and Lizzie M.Hoyt family. His fa her is reported to have been born in Ireland in that census. In 1900 my grandfather, Charles C. Connelly (this one I am really certain of), is in Todd Co., Minnesota. His father stated to be born in New York. He is a border in a hotel. My father, Charles Franklin CONNELLY, did not know his grandfather or even his name. I have not been able to find my grandfather in the 1910 or 1920 census's. He did spend some time in Canada homesteading, may have been up there then? Thanks for any leads!

Hi, I've been a Todd researcher for many years and I live north of Phila. so I have some things your don't have. I do dispute the Bermuda connection. I tried and tried to connect these but The Joseph 11 in the will of Joseph 1 was under 21 while the Joseph born in Bermuda is much older. The children in John Todds will do not fit since there is no Daniel, who we know to be a brother and the Elizabeth is not married to a Barkley. I wish it did fit. It would be very nice. Greetings to a Fellow Connelly Researcher. I found you through the message you posted in Connelly-List Rootsweb. I am searching for information on James Connelly b. 1853 d.1885 NY. m. NY date unknown Asenah Barton b. 1853 d. 1885 NY. They left my grand other Maggie b. 1879 and her sister Lillian b. 1875 orphaned so very little has been passed down through the family and I am finding research difficult.
