Medicinal Uses: Tea of roots or bark used to purify blood, to help kidney, bladder, chest and throat problems, diarrhea, and colds. Tea can be used as a wash for inflamed eyes and sores. Oil is good for toothache. Leaves and bark can be used as a poultice for sores and wounds.
Food Uses: Used to flavor other herbs, a natural beverage can be made by boiling the roots and sweetening to taste. Roots boiled for tea may be dried and used again.
Other Uses: Used to make scent soap, flowers can be mixed with beans when planting. Bark can be boiled to make an orange dye.
