Please complete the following form. This will allow us mail you a newsletter and directions to our next meeting.
HOW WE STARTED
A group of eighteen members of the Temple Beth David Men's Club, located in Spring Hill, Florida, met on June 16, 1999 for a BarBQ and boat ride at Hernando Beach. The rainy weather caused a change in plans. Instead of outdoor activities, the group viewed a video on Jewish American Patriots that greatly influenced them. There was immediate interest in investigating the Jewish War Veterans organization, with the possibility of perhaps forming a local JWV Post.
Bud Spetgang, Commander, Gulf Coast Council North, was advisor to the group. He discussed the purposes of the organization; how it acts as an advocate for members; examples of Post activities; and guidelines for organizing a new Post. The group enthusiastically decided to form a Post and interim officers were elected. Annual dues were established, and the date was set for formal elections at a luncheon organizational meeting on September 28 at The Village Inn Restaurant in Spring Hill.
On October 24, 1999, we proudly held our Inaugural Installation/Charter Luncheon at Silverthorn Country Club in Brooksville, FL. It is with great pride that we had with us National Commander MONROE(MONTE) MAYER; Dept. of Florida Commander MAX LEVINE; Dept.of Florida SrVice Commander HERBERT SCHWARTZ; Dept. of Florida 2nd Jr Vice Commander HARRY COHEN; Gulf Coast Council North District Council Commander BUD SPETGANG; Florida Ladies Auxiliary President LENA OSTROFSKY; and Florida Ladies Auxiliary Associate SIDELLE HELLMAN, to share in our memorable Post 997 Charter Presentation and Installation of Officers.
Members of Post #997 enjoy several benefits.
