USEFUL WEBLINKS OF INTEREST:

The
International Interfaith Foundation was founded in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1983, in an effort to defuse religious tensions contributing to the civil strife on that island between the Tamil (Hindu) minority and the Sinhalese (Buddhist) majority populations.  Instrumental in the Foundation's establishment (known at the time as the Peace Mission Pilgrimage Organization) were representatives
of the island's religious groupings: the group's present coordinating secretary, the Rev. Mr. John B.F. Jayamaha, representing the Christian Burgher community and a long-time activist with Sri Lanka's
Christian Council for the Blind; the Rev. T. Asami Theru,  and the venerable Bhikkhu Suminead, clerics representing the Buddhist community, and Mr. Wickramsingh representing the Hindu tradition.  The body sought to unite Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and Burgher (Eurasian) communities through a process of dialogue and intercommunal activities directed against social deprivation.  Today the Foundation's activities in Sri lanka continue as it and its members seek to spread their message of goodwill, tolerance and mutual understanding and respect to strife-torn communities around the globe.
The Foundation invites everyone to join with it, this coming
January 27, 2002, at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church in Jersey City, for a service of reflection and refreshment marking the first International Day of Support for the Blind & Disabled, as well as the First Anniversary of the Indo-Ceylon Christian Schools Past Students Council in the U.S.A.
