David Elazar received his B.A. in Chemistry
from Wayne State University (Detroit) 1964. In 1965, on an SLA scholarship,
he completed his M.A. in Library Science at the University of Michigan.
He served 5 years as Reference Librarian at the
Wayne State University's science library and
as Head Librarian of the United Hebrew Schools/College of Jewish
Studies (Detroit). During his tenure at the UHS, he devoted much of his
time to the development of the Classification System for Libraries
of Judaica. In 1970 he moved to Israel with his family. From
1970 to 1981 he held the position of Information Officer
in the Technical Information Center of a large company and
in 1981 was appointed manager of the Center. During the past 29 years
he has been active in developing, maintaining and managing
a modern, up to date information center to serve all the
aspects and needs of the company's technical information.

He is a member of the Special Libraries Association, the
American Society for Information Science, the Israel Society of Special
Libraries and Information Centres, and the Association of Jewish Librarians.
