Introduction

 

            My topic is mining in Saskatchewan I chose this topic because Shane was doing it

And I did not no a lout about mining in Saskatchewan. And I learned some very interesting things about mining in Saskatchewan.

            What is coal? In Saskatchewan they mined lignite cannel bituminous anthracite. They are all types of coal. Lignite is the softest coal in the first stage of compression. Cannel coal is hard and shiny thin pieces burn like candles. Bituminous coal is the type used for houses and factories. Anthracite is the hardest coal and is smokeless when burned. Saskatchewan is the third largest producer of coal in Canada. In Saskatchewan there are five coalmines. Over 70 percent of the electricity in the province comes from coal.

            Some Types of mining in Saskatchewan? Potash in Saskatchewan is home to the world’s largest deposits of potash. One third of the world’s supply of potash comes from Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan has enough potash to supply the world for several hundred years. Most of the potash that is mined is used for fertilizer. The potash cooperation of Saskatchewan operates 6 mines. The mine near Esteragy is the largest in the world. Saskatchewan is the richest in uranium deposits in the world. All of the world uranium produced in Saskatchewan. Sodium sulphur has 5 plants in Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan ranks fifth in the world, in the producer of sodium sulphur. Sodium sulphur is used in detergent dishwashing soap and laundry detergent.

            Uses for everything mined in Saskatchewan. Gold is used for jewellery gold coins Gold bars dishes status buildings picture frames and books. Potash is used for fertilizer soap detergents. Coal is mostly sued in Saskatchewan for electricity. Uranium is used to fill nuclear power plants

            What types of mining is there? There are 3 types of mining in Saskatchewan. There is underground. There is surface mining. And last but not least there is solution.

In conclusion in this report you learned that Saskatchewan had some really cool things happening and you probably learned some interesting facts about the topic.
