Damelo formed in early 2000. The original line-up featured Robin Clewell on bass and Mike Caso on danelelctro (yech) and  Brian Brophy on rhythm guitar. After blowing through a number of drummers, the original line-up self destructed in mid-summer. Brian moved to the Bay Area, returned to Chico and rounded up up a whole new crew. Scott P. (Inverted Nines, Nothing at All) on guitar, Travis Merrifield (Nothing at All) on bass, and Fred Telles (Union of the Dead, Nothing at All, Tiger Army) on drums. Scott was kicked out of the band after one practice.
Damelo played its first show on October 6, 2000 at the 654 house. The now defunct Smash Him! played, as well as Nothing at All. The next show was at Robin and Heather's house with Mates of State. Scott P. was let back in the band for one song, but failed to make the party because he "got too drunk." Hopefully he will join the band at some point in the future, and be kicked out again.
The band's first real show was at the Blue Room with The iMPS and Union of the Dead on December 1, 2000, as a last minute replacement for Isabell.
Fred and Travis have left the band and been replaced by Daniel Taylor and Dan Burns, respectively.

Fred moved to San Diego to seek punk rock superstardom with the UOD crew and is currently the touring drummer for Tiger Army. Travis left the band to pursue a drumming career with the Inverted Nines.  Daniel has been in a number of bands including the Inverted Nines and  Paint. Dan has been in Fun World on Fire, Smash Him! and the Durham Rockers.
Damelo's music can best be described as heavy indie rock. They have been compared to Mission of Burma and people have described their music as "melodic screaming," "metallic emo" and "anthems for the end of the world." Catch the band live and decide for yourself.
Damelo has played with bands such as: the Icarus Line, Corrugated, Freedom for Saturn, the Backstabbers, Tuuli, Loose Change, Kill Me Tomorrow, The Peppermints,  Indecisive Youth, Isabell, Robots Hate Cowboys and Hit by a Semi.
