Let it be!
The angel Gabriel was went to Mary. He said to her Rejoice, so highly favoured! The Lord is with you.
She was deeply disturbed and wondered what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her Mary, do not be afraid....you are to conceive and bear a son....' Mary said to the angel, but how can this be....? The Holy spirit will come upon you...'the angel answered....
'Elizabeth has in her old age, herself conceived a son...for nothing is impossible to God.'
I am the handmaid of the Lord,' said Mary 'Let what you have said be done to me.' And the angel left her. lk 1: 26-38
As you reflect on this Gospel passage, hear the angel remind you-'The Lord is with you' today! Ask yourself what this greeting might mean for you as this time.
As you reflect ont he change, growth, and 'new life' that God offers these two women ask him to show you something of his 'creative' plans for your life. Life involves growth and growth requires change. What areas do you need to change with God's help in order to bring life? We are all called to be life-givers to ourselves. To others, to our environment.
Perhaps you need to nurture your own life physically, spiritually? Balanced rest, exercise, even social life can all be life giving! you never know what effect you can have on people. Sometimes just being there for them can be life giving. There are many ways you can be creative- plant seeds or a tree, recycle, donate blood or you could even adopt a donkey! We are allcalled to give life-how will you give life today?
Hear God gently challenge you to bring to birth the seeds he has planted within you. Ask him to show you where you can bring new life today. Perhaps the challenge is great, and the change might be difficult to make. However, 'the Lord is with you...do not be afraid....nothing is impossible to God!' |
