An affectionate tribute to a much-loved part of Rotherham
   Why, Maltby, Why?

There is much to see in Rotherham
Under dark and rainy sky.
Boston Castle, Clifton Park
And Paul Shane from Hi-De-Hi.

Moorgate is nice and posh,
And Whiston's rather quaint.
But it saddens me immensely,
That I must make this complaint.

Why must we have Maltby?
Which damn fool thought of this?
A hole of crime and violence,
Fused with fragrance of stale piss.

A stranger travelling through these streets,
Is filled with fear and dread.
Of getting stabbed or set on fire,
Or a brick smashed in his head.

The bus no longer travels here,
It dare not reach this place.
Not since the 09:15 from town,
Just vanished without trace.

Even Binmen will not come,
The last lot all got raped.
They could not walk for several months,
Their bottoms were re-shaped.

So why must we have Maltby?
No good will come from here.
The stench of misery from this place,
Makes me sob into my beer.

We need to start again from scratch,
Rip up, tear down, move on.
What Maltby really needs, my friends,
Is a big atomic bomb.
