Synopsis:
Session begins with the party in the necromancer's tower.  The party has defeated the naga and the guards, who are being held captive in the main hall.   Brook, the sidhe, is acting strangely and Rhyawdd,  William,  and Agate are searching for him in the large tower.  Kieren has gone to the main hall to speak with the dark naga to warn it that Brook intends to do it harm.  The naga is upset with the party and claims that they are reneging on the deal that Rhyawdd made.  The naga demands that the party free the remaining guards so that they can protect it.  Kieren refuses the naga’s request.

Brook calls for Rhyawdd to help him upstairs.  Rhyawdd tells Agate and William to stand watch at both of the staircases in the guard room in the largest tower.  Rhyawdd ascends the stairs to the parlor and on to the bedroom.  Brook tells Rhyawdd that he is trapped behind a concealed door.

Tarl is in the main hall with the bound guards and the naga.  He casts detect magic and scans the main hall for any magical emanations.  Tarl notes that the banded armor and battle axe of the ‘robed’ warrior emanate strong magic.  He mentions this to Liana, who begins checking the armor for size and possible fit.  She determines that the armor might fit her and begins removing it from the fallen warrior.  Meanwhile, Tarl checks the supposed door to the library and detects a powerful enchantment on the door.  He also notes faint magical emanations beyond the walls of the library.

Gawain, the priest of Thor, begins tending to the wounds of  Kieren and Magnus, who are keeping watch on the guards.  He casts an orison on each of them.    While this is going on the naga says that it is not going to wait around to be killed and leaves the main hall and heads down the stairs.  Liothien notes this and pursues the naga as far as the stairs. The naga is already out of sight so Lio readies his bow and guards the stairwell.

Deirdre has released the lieutenant of the guards, Eli, from his bonds.  They are consoling each other when the naga departs.  Eli informs Kieren and the others that the naga commands legions of undead in a nearby crypt  and could be going to fetch them.  Eli tells the party that the naga is not to be trusted under any circumstances.

Rhyawdd re-enters the guard room and  tells William and Agate to come with him. He tells them that the sidhe has fled to the roof  and could be descending the walls to flank the party and kill the naga.  The three of them leave the guard room and enter the main hall.  Rhyawdd directs David and Cedric to the roof to keep watch for the sidhe who has fled there.  He tells the others that the naga is in  danger and they need to shield it from the sidhe.  Tarl joins up with the group, while Liana continues stripping the magical banded armor off of the dead warrior.  The group reaches the end of the main hall where Kieren and Magnus are being healed by Gawain.  There is an argument between Kieren and Rhyawdd over what course of action the party should.  Kieren wants to heal up and reassemble the party before looking for Brook.  Rhyawdd says that the naga is at risk from the sidhe and wants to protect it to honor his word.  The party concludes that the sidhe will probably end up pursuing the naga so when they find the naga then the sidhe will be nearby.  Eli volunteers to lead the party to the main gate provided that they will protect Deirdre from harm.  Liana agrees to make Deirdre invisible so that she is less likely to be harmed.

The party consisting of  Rhyawdd,  Kieren, William, Magnus, Tarl, Gawain, Eli, and Deirdre (invisible) goes to the ground floor of the keep and on to the main entry hall.  Liothien stays behind in the main hall with Liana and Nicolette to keep watch on the 4 bound guards.  Liana is putting on the magical banded mail.

When the party reaches  the entry hall they are confronted by a lone guard who refuses to let them pass.  Rhyawdd, and Agate dispatch the hapless fellow before he can harm them.  The main doors to the keep are unbarred as if they were recently used.

The real Rhyawdd checks out the locked door in the bedroom and determines that it is not trapped, however it appears to be magically locked, presumably by the wizard.  He hears nothing more  from the sidhe and decides to return to the guard room to see if the others have captured the sidhe.  When he arrives in the guard room it is empty.  Rhyawdd enters the main hall to find Liana putting on the last pieces of the magical banded mail.  Liana is taken aback at the re-appearance of Rhyawdd from the largest tower.  She tells Rhyawdd that she just saw him leave with the rest of the party to find the naga. Rhyawdd inquires about Cedric, David, and William.  Liana tells him that William is with the party and Cedric and David are on the roof.  Rhyawdd tells Nicolette to follow him and they head for the roof.

Cedric and David are keeping watch on the roof and checking for any sign of the sidhe.  Cedric happens to note the naga fleeing from the tower and headed in the direction of the swamp where the undead are.  He calls to David , who comes over to assess the situation.  David decides that the naga is fleeing and tells Cedric to shoot it  before it gets away. Cedric and David shoot the naga with their missile weapons and kill the creature before it can get 50 ‘ from the tower.  They begin yelling for the rest of the party.

The party lead by the other Rhyawdd, opens the main gate and exits the keep.  They hear Cedric and David on the roof, and see the slain naga nearby.  Kieren, Rhyawdd, Gawain, and Tarl go to the naga's body while the others remain at the main gate.  Tarl checks the naga and determines that it is dead.  He then begins eviscerating it to look for any treasure it may have hidden in its gullet sack.  Rhyawdd assists him.

The real Rhyawdd and Nicolette reach the roof and see David and Cedric along the far wall looking over the side.  Rhyawdd calls to them and they notice him.  David reacts instantly and aims his bow at Rhyawdd.  David accuses him of being an imposter and tells Nicolette to stand aside.  Rhyawdd pleads with David and tells him he is no fake.  David directs Cedric to yell over the wall to the others to detain the other Rhyawdd that is with them.  Upon hearing this the Rhyawdd next to the dead naga vanishes.  Cedric sees this and tells David, who lowers his bow.  Rhyawdd tells David specific details about the MacPherson clan to allay any further concerns he may have.  David apologizes to him for the misunderstanding.

Tarl recovers three potion bottles, three scroll tubes, 24 gp, and 4 pp from the naga’s gullet sack.  He stores this treasure in his many pouches and pack.  Kieren asks Gawain to use some kind of magic to locate the wayward sidhe who must be nearby.  Gawain casts detect evil and finds only a weak emanation coming from the direction of the swamp where the undead are supposed to be.  There is no sign of the sidhe, so the party members return to the keep and bar the main gate.

The party takes stock of the situation and decides to depart the keep and the Valley of the Dead at least two hours before dusk.  This will give the priests a chance to heal the wounded and it will give Tarl and Rhyawdd a chance to enter and search the necromancer’s library.  Gawain administers heals injured party members as best he can.  Tarl heals up Liana and Rhyawdd  prior to exploring the library.

Kieren speaks with Eli, the lieutenant of the guards, and inquires about anyone else that might be in the keep.  Eli tells Kieren that aside from the remaining four guards and Malcolm, the prisoner, there are six servants in the keep.  Kieren learns from Eli that the guards and servants were held at the keep against their will by the magic of the naga and the threat of the undead in the valley.  Eli asks Kieren specifically about the undead wolves in the  valley, and whether or not the party destroyed them.  He is obviously relieved to learn that they are destroyed.  Eli also tells Kieren that there are several horses  stabled in the courtyard next to the keep.  Kieren puts Eli in charge of  the tower’s inhabitants, and tells him to get everyone prepared to leave before dusk.  Eli begins making preparations.

The various party members make preparations to leave the keep.  The dead guards are removed from the main hall.  The remaining guards and servants gather  their meager possessions while the party members keep an eye on them.  Watches are posted on the roof and at the main gate.

Tarl, Rhyawdd and Liana try to figure out a way to gain access to the  library.  The door is magically locked, and the wooden wall facing the library appears to be quite sturdy.  Rhyawdd remembers that there is a window that should look in on the library.  He goes to the roof,  lowers  a rope, and descends it to the window opening to the library. The window is glazed and behind the glazing is a sturdy iron portcullis firmly set in the wall.  Inside the library, Rhyawdd sees several bookshelves with books on them as well as a reading table, chairs, fireplace, opulent rugs and large suit of armor next to the door.  He notes that to the right side of the door there is a section of the wooden wall that is not blocked by a bookcase.  Rhyawdd returns to the main hallway with Tarl and Liana and relates his findings.  Together they formulate a plan to use Liana’s wand of earth and stone to cast passwall on the wooden wall next to the door.   Liana uses the wand to  create a 5’wide by 8’ high opening in the wall.  Tarl, Rhyawdd, and Liana enter the library and begin to look around.  Rhyawdd and Tarl go over  to the reading table to examine the open texts there.  As they reach the table, the suit of armor animates and moves to engage them before they can react.  Liana sees this and uses her wand to cast passwall on the floor beneath the animated armor.  A 5’ x 8’ opening appears beneath the armor and it crashes to the floor in the barracks 12 feet below the library.  Unfortunately,  the armor appears unfazed by the fall and gets up and smashes open the door the exits the barracks.  Tarl surmises that the armor will try to return to the library and head for the stairwell and the  trapdoor mechanism there.  Rhyawdd meanwhile, grabs as many books as he can and throws them into his bag of holding and heads for the roof.  Liana is standing out in the  main hall as she is unsure what to do.  Tarl is unable to release the trapdoor mechanism before the animated armor reaches the top of the stairs and smashes open the portcullis that blocks the way.  Tarl flees back to the library with the armor in hot pursuit.  Liana sees the approaching suit of armor and casts a lightning bolt at it.  The armor absorbs the lightning completely and appears unfazed.  It moves to Liana at the entrance to the library and pummels her to unconsciousness.  Tarl attempts to blind the armor with a light spell but it appears to have no effect.  Several of the other party members arrive on the scene just as Liana goes down.  Kieren attacks the armor and appears to damage it.  Brook appears out of nowhere and lands a telling blow on the armor. The animated armor re-enters the library and engages Tarl.  The quick gnome is able to elude several mighty blows aimed at him.  Meanwhile Kieren, and Brook are able to press their attacks on the animated armor and destroy it.  The armor contains a large humanoid that appears to be stitched together from various body parts and is obviously a flesh golem of some kind.

Gawain, the priest, attends to Liana, and he is able to heal her enough to  revive her.  Gawain and Agate carry her to the nearby captains quarters and place her in  bed to rest and recuperate from her injuries.  Kieren is appraised of her weakened condition and decides to delay leaving the keep until the next day to give Liana time to heal up so that she can travel.  Kieren consults with Eli on the safety of the keep from the undead and Eli assures him that the undead cannot gain access to the keep once the doors are barred.

Once things quiet down, the various party members return to their preparations while Tarl and Rhyawdd gather all of the books in the library.  Brook is also in the library and grabs several tomes.  In the process of clearing the shelves, Rhyawdd finds a unique book on the shelf next to the fire place.  The book (entitled “Tricks and Traps to Fool the Unwary) appears to be attached to some kind of mechanism that leads behind the bookcase.  Tarl and Rhyawdd both check the mechanism and decide that it is some kind of door release and not a trap.  Tarl eventually pulls on the book and hears an audible click followed by a slight movement of the bookcase as it pivots outward into the room.  Tarl pulls open the bookcase further and reveals a 10 foot square secret room that contains 4 padlocked chests.    Tarl tosses in a copper piece to check for traps and nothing happens.  He notes that the far wall of the secret room is a wood partition and not stone like the side walls.

Rhyawdd enters the secret room and begins checking the nearest chest for traps.  He finds none, however he is surprised as a skeletal snake-like creature with a human skull (bone naga) appears beside him.  The creature has come from an alcove above the entrance to the secret room.  A concussive shock wave is emitted from the bone naga and sweeps over Rhyawdd and Tarl who is standing nearby.  Both of them take heavy damage from the shock wave.  Tarl and Rhyawdd draw their blades and attack the bone naga and destroy it before it can do them any further injury.

Once things quiet down,  Tarl and Rhyawdd continue checking the chests for traps (they find none) and opening the padlocks.  The third padlock cannot be opened by either of them so Rhyawdd gets Nicolette to assist them.  Nicolette is able to open the.  The first chest that Rhyawdd opens contains 11 bags of coins, the second contains several small cases containing gems and jewelry, the third contains 10 magic tomes, and the fourth contains a bag of coins and a skeletal arm clutching a dagger.  As Rhyawdd opens this fourth chest  the arm animates and then levitates out of the chest to attack him.  He barely dodges  this initial attack. Unfortunately,  Nicolette is standing nearby and is attacked before she has time to flee.  The skeletal arm successful stabs her with the dagger and she falls to the floor dead.  Tarl and Rhyawdd once again draw their blades and are able to destroy the dagger wielding arm before it can do any further harm.
