Rattle-Trap Crankbaits

These lures tend to be diamond-shaped, flat-sided, and filled with metal beads so that they produce a tight wiggle and loud rattle when they are retrieved through the water.  Rat'l traps are designed to sink when cast, and they can be retrieved at any depth by allowing the lure to sink to the appropriate depth before cranking your reel.  I have had good success with these types of lures in the past few years.  The trick to using them successfully is experimenting with the retrieve depth to get them as deep into the weeds as possible without fouling the lure.  It takes some practice, but is well worth the effort to catch those finicky bass and walleye that are lurking in the weeds.
