Please…

Welcome to my darkened house,

all of the lights turned off as I go to bed

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

I clutch a rag doll to my chest,

weep tears of blood that funnel down, down,

past all of the tomorrows gone and spent

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

I dream of you, deep in the night,

the way we were, so long ago,

when I was little and well loved

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

You are gone and I don't know

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

what can I do to make you happy?

What can I say to see that smile,

that mustache quivering,

rapscallion kind of grin

that always left me rolling my eyes?

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

I am broken, can't be fixed,

a disappointment in all of the ways that count

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

I am drowning in a sea of lies,

white lilies pour down over my head,

nothing matters here where I am

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

Roses bloom in bloody water,

all that counted has been lost,

I am alone, the lights turned down,

I am alone, the lights turned off

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

When I was little, I begged for your love,

wanted to see the sparkle of pride in your eye,

but that time is long gone.

I don't need you, or anyone,

I can stand alone

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

I breathe the breath of a starless night,

swallow deep a thousand tears,

am too strong to ever cry

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

I will never be alone

as long as I am here

please don't leave me, please don't leave me

The lights are turned down,

the coffee pot is switched off,

I huddle under my blanket to fight off the chill,

but I am not alone

I love you daddy
