Hiya!

For all of you Americans out there, hope you had a fab time at Thanksgiving. I had a nice time myself. I spent it with just my parents and my bro. It was a little melancholy because some of our relatives have passed away in the last year or two, so our family has gotten smaller, and frankly more dispersed. I think I have six honest-to-God relatives left, outside my ‘rents and bro. Fortunately, the four of us are pretty tight.

My bro and I had a good time taking over my parents’ house, watching videos and playing video games for 48 hours straight.  Out of the movies we watched, I definitely recommend X-Men II. If you missed it in the theater like I did, you need to at least watch it at home in your den on the wide screen with the lights out. The Wolverine. I mean, seriously. How can you not think he’s totally smokin’? Grrrrrrrr. I also recommend a cool skateboarding documentary call Dogtown and Z-Boys. It’s about a gang of really cool kids that revolutionized skateboarding in the late 70s. It was fascinating. It’s interesting to see how kinda hot young guys grow up to be not so hot old guys. Pick wisely ladies! I was just a baby back then, but the show made me very nostalgic for the 70s and skateboarding. My bro and I were out in the backyard at midnight trying to pop tricks on an old skateboard we found in the garage. I know. Dorks! Anyway….

I made some design updates to the home page, but that's it for now.

We do have some stories and a few other items to put out on the site, as well as a few prizes to give away. However, I can’t commit a time to you, I’m bad about that. If I tell you we’ll have a story or something up by a certain date and I can’t deliver, it stresses me out and makes me look like a jerk. The best I can say is to check-in when you can and be delightfully surprised when you have found something new. You’re like, “Duh, that’s what I’ve been doing!” Well, keep it up! I’ll be back on soon.

Until then, reduce, reuse, recycle!  ||:)<

OMG! How are you?! Man, I am beat. Beat. Beat. Beat. Me be working too hard lately. Me wanna crawl into hole and never return.

As it is, that's not an option for me at the moment. So, I trudge forward.

On a much happier note - the new Seattle Ronald McDonald House finally opened its doors for business a few weeks ago. Yea!

I was sent an invitation to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, but couldn't go. I knew someone had to represent the In Apolo's Name project, so I called on some of our IAN friends who live in the Northwest. They took pictures and granted us a brief interview on the event.

What are you still doing here?  Head over to In Apolo's Name and read all about it. ||:)<

Unintentionally, I have waited until the very last minute to encourage you to help out a young guy named Cody Kirkland. Strangely, I know very little about him, except this: He’s the son of Apolo’s massage therapist, the very same kid and his mom who Apolo visited in a Ronald McDonald House not so long ago, the visit that got Apolo to thinking about Ronald McDonald House Charities, which eventually lead to the In Apolo’s Name project.

With all that, it looks like Cody could use some direct help with his medical expenses. So, some really nice people have put together a raffle to benefit Cody via the Pediatric Heart Transplant Foundation. The raffle prizes include some rare Apolo videos and an autographed beret. The deadline to enter the raffle is midnight Sept. 22. Don't take my word for it. Read all the details here: midnight Sept. 22. Don't take my word for it. Read all the details here:

When I first read about "Operation Kirkland" on Ohno Zone, and then on the raffle Web site, I got a really good feeling about the whole thing. The effort is sincere and well-thought out. No egos, no profits, no complications. It’s simple. Print out the form. Fill it out. Write out a check or money order. Send it in. Brilliant.

I would never ask you to do something I wouldn’t do myself.  I sent in $30. I really considered rising above it all and just making the donation and bowing out of the raffle. But, uhm, I didn’t.  :)  I know I won’t win, but it’s just fun to think I could. So could you! Give it a go! If I could, I would have been a true Santa and given more. But, hey, you do what you can do when you can do it, right? So, there it is.

Make yourself feel good. Give some strangers a hand if you can.

Howdy. Well, it has been a long summer hasn’t it? Very little of the Emperor to keep you going? Well, the new competition season is literally right around the corner. In that anticipation, we came up with a new desktop poster just for you. Click here or the Wallpaper link under Odd Bits.

BTW, I created the Odd Bits category for stuff like Wallpaper that just didn’t fit under DB Reports & Reviews.

Rockin’ NEW Site Feature
I know. I know. You guys want me to stop coming up with weird new stuff for the site and start publishing fics again. I will. I will! I promise. Hang in there.

Until then, *drum roll* please enjoy the fabulously mesmerizing Dark Blades Dancers! *ba-dum-cha!*  That’s right, ladies and gentlemen; we have dancers! Awe, yeah! They have the modern beat and will dance to just about any tune you crank up. Slow, fast – they’re in step. Click here to view them in their own little pop-up window.

These guys have been dancing in my head for almost a year now. Thank God I finally got them out. Now they can dance in your head and on your monitor. Keep them in the corner of your screen while you’re at work or at school. They live to entertain!  ||:)<

AO on TV Next Week

the Emperor AO and actress Sherri Shepherd backstage at Hollywood Squares

Hollywood Squares is repeating its College Tournament (originally aired back in February)  in which the Emperor participated as a celebrity square.  Times vary per area, so check your local listings. Try the Yahoo TV directory.

If you missed it the first time, heres your chance!

Random Rocco TV Note
Rocco DiSpirito will be on The View July 31. Dont expect regular Rocco updates from me. I barely know where I am at any given minute. Keeping up with my celeb crushes is more than my leetle mind can handle.

Reality TV Check
Okay. If you watched The Restaurant Sunday night on NBC, I know what you are thinking. Yes, he is a hot cutie. Rocco DiSpirito is a total babe. I actually met Rocco a while back, and just kept walking. Wow. Im an idiot! Anyway… Click here for a fan page that was so inundated with overnight Rocco fans that it actually shutdown due to bandwidth issues. So funny! Makes me think of the beginning  mania for you-know-who. If you have no idea what I am talking about, check here.

On to another reality show, Cupid. Funny how it rhymes with stupid. Anyway, I am not going to give it more attention that it deserves except for this one wacky little morsel – there is a guy that the bachelorette chick picked who is doing an Apolo thing with his hair. He wears a bandana and a goatee – that is until she made him shave it off. He looks like Apolo’s fugly* older brother. (My apologies to you if this guy happens to be YOUR fugly older brother.) The second episode re-runs tonight on CBS.

*Okay, maybe fugly is a bit harsh. The guy is actually okay. But I am working off the Apolo scale - Apolo is the gold standard and everyone else is fugly.

Long Over Due Site Fix
The other day I got a really nice complement on the Observing Two Lovers Without A Plot story. It made me want go back and give it a read. OMG! The pages have looked like this since February?! Typos! Typos! Typos I thought I had already fixed! Okay, maybe there weren’t just a ton of them, but ... shit! There was one in particular… oh fuck.

“Hi,” he said softly trailing his fingers through her wavy brow hair.

Brow hair?! Brow hair?! Holy shit! If you didn’t know any better you’d think Apolo was married to a chimpanzee. EGADS! Well, it’s changed now to BROWN hair. Goodness. My apologies to, uhm… myself. Sorry, Velma, for making you sound like you have a furry forehead. No worries. I’ll live.

Site Update
Just added some new entries to the Artifacts page.

8 p.m. - Site Update
Just posted up a new section – Artifacts. We have received and witnessed some crazy Apolofied stuff over the last year. We never really had a place to put it until now. So check it out and enjoy.

If you have some weird Apoloish story or picture, tell us. The Virgin Mary doesn’t have the corner market on holy visions anymore.

12:30 p.m.- Happy Sunday to you!
I saw “Pirates of the Caribbean” the other night. I have been stoked about this movie for a while. Johnny Depp. I mean, come on.  I know about all the crap he’s said about the United States. As a confirmed jingoist, I should hate his guts. But I don’t, cannot. He’s so fucking brilliant. Sexy and insane. I love it! So, when I heard he was going to be a pirate in a film inspired by my favorite Disneyland ride… well, there was no way I was going to miss it.

My review? Hmm. Well, if you go to see Johnny, you won’t be disappointed. Insane Johnny pirate complete with eyeliner. *purrrrrrrrrrrrr* Plus, you get a nice little helping of Orlando Bloom on the side. Actually all the acting and sets and stuff were pretty good. Some of the scenes looked just like the Disney ride. But overall it just lacked. I don’t know what. There were some small holes in the storyline. I suppose it was good summer fare. I just wouldn’t run right out and pay the nighttime price to see it, nor would I invest in a $5 soda and $10 popcorn.

I have to say, though, the little 8-year-old girls next to me were having the time of their life – giggling at the slapstick fighting and squealing at the “scary” scenes. So, cute, and yet annoying.

So, do I recommend it? Sure. Will I be accountable if you hate it? No.

Remember our “Pirates of the Caribbean” inspired wallpaper?

Howdy. I hope all our American buddies had a great Independence Day. Love your freedom, baby! Love your freedom!

 June Disappeared
What the fuck happened? I just lost, like, a whole month of my life.

The Iceman Cameth
An ominous presence arrived in Apoloville this June…the Emperor AO himself. This isn’t news to you. You’ve already been there 5 million times today.

While you were there, did you notice anything? Anything strange? Yes. Yes. That’s right. There is no link to Dark Blades. (See the DB Poll.)

Aside from that disappointing note, not much new on his site. You might even say it’s a little too little, a little too late. But that’s not the Emperor’s fault. It’s there now and something to look at. (What’s up with the DJ Keoki link? For whatever reason it is there, it brings up the site’s coolness about 50 points.)

It’s kinda weird to think about how the Emperor is residing in a used space, an infamously used space. The mania, the formation of cliques, and the birth of Dark Blades all started more than a year ago on www.apoloantonohno.com. Yeah. Apolo Forums. You know what Im talkin about.

I just want to know what kinda coin Chris Taylor got in the end. Come on, Hajime. Tell me.

Actually, I really don’t care. It’s just funny to see this show go from A to Z in a year.
