Game reviews

This is the page where I will give my comments and ratings about various games that I test-play for the Nintendo Gamecube and X-Box.

Title: Enter The Matrix
Class: Action/Adventure
ESRB Rating: Teen - Violence
Reviewer's Comments: The latest in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series in which you control a pro skater and go through levels from around the world and win competitions to increase your skater's pro rating. In THUG however, there is a slight twist. You do not control a pro skater, you control a street skater intent on making it in the big times. You design the skater yourself, male or female, and take your character to the top. Right from hometown New Jersey all the way to Moscow, Russia, you strive to be the best that you can be. The pros, however, are not to be left out. Tony Hawk makes an appearance, as do Bucky lasek, Chad Muska, and other top-rated pro skaters. This Tony Hawk game blows the others right out of the water and is definitely the best out of the 5. The only downside is that the designers went a little overboard on some of the goals and made them completely unbelievable. Come on, skating around Russia and knocking out guards to meet with spies? But still an awesome game over all.

Title: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
Class: Action/Adventure
ESRB Rating: Teen - Realistic Violence
Reviewer's Comments: One word can describe this game: wow. I was blown away the first time I played this game, it's that incredible. Right when you turn on the system, you are thrown into the battle of Helm's Deep as Gandalf, and you're right there fighting. The detail on the characters is magnificent, and the levels are wonderful to look at as well as play in. The characters are numerous: there are nine playable characters as opposed to The Two Towers only having four. Although the voice actors are not the actors themselves as it was in The two Towers, you still feel like you are right there in the movie, pushing it along. The multitude of levels will keep you playing for hours, and the interviews with the actors and movie clips as you enter the levels will keep you hooked until you unlock every last thing. A new feature includes interactive environments. Your character can pick up and use war pikes, fire catapults, and climb up and down ropes and ladders. The game portrays the film very well and if you haven't seen the movie, then this is the next best thing!

Overall Rating: 10/10

Title: Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
Class: Shooter
ESRB Rating: Teen - Realistic Violence, Language
Reviewer's Comments: I played Medal of Honor: Frontline a while ago, and I thought that was an awesome game. The graphics were realistic, the detail of the weapons was very good, and the levels and music went together very nicely. However, Rising Sun doesn't offer such good qualities as it's predecessor. Rising Sun takes place at Pearl Harbor first, then during the early American involvement in World War Two against the Japanese. The game is much shorter, only about 8 levels compared to Frontline's 20 or so, and the levels are so long that you end up sitting and wondering when the game will end. The detail is better than that of Frontline, but that's about the only thing that's better. Overall, not a great game. Try it out if you're into first person shooters, but I wouldn't think of this game as one to buy.
