Name: Esme Leighton Race: Elf Gender: Female Age: 23 Job: Scholar Family: Husband, Kasper; Parents are merchants, two younger siblings Build: Short and stocky Skin: Darkly tanned Hair: Reddish brown, slightly curly, to middle of back Eyes: Greenish blue Appearance: Esme is very short, under five feet, but she has a very solid, stocky build. Her skin is darkly tanned from lots of sun, and her dark reddish-brown hair curls slightly, reaching down to the middle of her back. It is usually braided when working outside. She has a fine, pointed face and almond-shaped, green-blue eyes. Personality: Energetic and excited, Esme is very passionate and loves her work. She is not really outgoing, and is in fact rather shy around strangers, but she is quite friendly and talkactive around acquaintences. She is optomistic and little ever seems to discourage her. Past: Esme grew up among many other elves, happily with her parents and her younger brother and sister. She learned magic very young and used it to attract animals to play with her. She still has to ability to influence animals. At 20, she left her home to become a scholar in a neighboring human country of Gelauren. While there, she met another elf, Kasper Leighton, who she eventually married. They often travel together on reasearch. Elves are a very similar race to humans; physically they look the same, except elves always have red-toned hair and they have the ability to use magic. They do not live any longer than humans and their ears do not come to points, though they have fine, slender and pointed features; they are still a young race and you could say they are 'in the process of becoming elves'.

Esme had always been a traditionalist. As soon as she saw Lantessama's dragons, (the normal four-limbed, two-winged kind), she knew that was what she wanted. Signing up was simple, with the help of some of the riders, and soon all she had to do was wait until the clutch hatched and hope she was lucky enough to bond. She spent the time exploring the Isle with Kasper, and it wasn't long before she encountered the tiny flitters that many of the riders had. Despite Kasper's groanings, she quickly tracked down a clutch of the dragonlings. Soon she had two eggs of her own, one having to be dug out of the sand, and in time they hatched into two flitters: one, a female earth which she name Velia; the other was a white opal, also a female, and was christened Laelia.

A beauty and well-aware of it, she does not obsess over it, and while she doesn't particularly care for wild adventures or doing dirty, nitty-gritty tasks, she'll do just about anything if it's for her bond's sake.
