Environment 1
This experiential environment was a site - specific installation, part of the solo exhibition. It comprised of a blue - lit corridor space ( 8 w x 40 L x 9 h feet) with a live video and television at the end. Two metal trays on the floor with blue water and blue wax 'nose' shapes. Numerous transparent fishing wires stretched from floor to ceiling. Recorded soundtrack with artist's voice in a whisper.
As the viewer/participant encountered the blue space, they became gradually aware of the transparent fishing wires and hence started to articulate their movements in order to reach the end of the corridor to see the trays. The live replay of their movements were seen on the screen, in the opposite direction, as if they were moving into the space from both ends of the corridor. The whispering soundtrack of barely audible narrative created an atmosphere of intrigue, as did the blue lighting. |
