Where It All Began
Hi I'm Michele and this is to tell you where Darshiva Kennels came from, it all started 16 years ago when I purchased my very first show dog a Collie Rough from a wonderful breeder Christine Baker - Carluke Kennels.
Carluke Sweet & Spicy to us "Shannon"  was shown up until 9 months of age and had done very well winning classes and groups classes but unfortunately Shannon picked up a tick which finished her show career, instead she went on to be a wonderful obedience dog attaining her CD CDX & ET and live to the great age of 14 years old. During this time I continued to show a wide range of dogs including cattle dogs, terriers, dobermans and many others breeds.
While doing this I watch an increase in the Siberian Huskies being shown in the ring, this breed attracted me a great deal and I started out with my research into the breed and its requirements. In 1995  I decided to purschase my first husky and like everyone else had a look in the local papers to see what was available there were not a great deal but I went to look at some but found that some of the pups had more experience than in breeding than there breeder.
On that note I contacted the Secretary of the Siberian Husky Club of NSW  only to recieve a 20 minute lecture on what I didn't know about the breed or about showing without even the person on the other end of the phone asking me who I was and  what I did know about the breed, so I hung up and continued my search in Victoria.
After contacting their Husky Club they put me in contact with Chukchii Kennels one of the founders of siberians into Australia Michael & Wendy Newton. I introduce myself over the phone to Michael and we chatted for a long time and I told him what I wanted - Black and White male for showing and as luck had it he currently had 4 males and the pick 9 weeks later flew into my home he was Aust Ch. Chukchii Prairie Wolf " Taylar" and this is were Darshiva Siberian Huskies started, he has won numerouse groups and class in shows over the past 6 years and still we currently run him in the show ring ocaasionally as he enjoys showing so much.
We purchase a bitch  a year after Taylar - Cheenah Sahara Storm " Meeko ", Meeko had limited showing as she just hated it but she has a few group wins to her name, instead she loves to run in harness and does it with all her heart so that is what she does behind the scenes when we get a break from the show ring.
2 years after buying Meeko she produce her first litter to Taylar  which consisted of 6 puppies 2 girls and 4 boys - we kept a boy and a girl to run on Dakota & Karja which are nearly tilted and aslo group and class is show winners.
In 1997 Wayne I met and our family grew he had 2 huskies Frosty & Sky and not long after Zero was brought our family grew to 7 Sibs and Collie Rough ( now 13 ) and this is basically how our kennels were formed
We currently have 12 siberians an d 1 border collies all of which on there way to there Australian Championship and have had may group or class in show wins these are either pups or  grand puppies of Taylar and Meeko and soon to our American boy Kayenta's Chama of Nordvik - "Chama" who is soon to be the father of future generation of Darshiva.
