| DF: I dunno, good movies have droughts sometimes CI: I've been in the film nerd business for about 2 years, and right now I'm doing ok CI: especially with the film fest right now DF: well I have more game systems so I have a larger selection of good games to choose from CI: yeah, I'd be turned off if movies did that where like you could only watch WB films on a WB DVD player DF: well, that DVD player area restriction bothers me CI: hell yeah, and that would be an issue if it weren't for focus, miramax, disney, people like that that transfer it over CI: so i can get shit like versus, and shaolin soccer DF: but i can't get the newer Godzilla movies until they take 10 years to ruin them by dubbing them badly DF: what are we arguing about again? DF: Ioga? CI: pulp fiction and its anal rape scene DF: oh yeah... CI: and your taxing beligerence in which you are trying to match my arguing distaste for the same zelda game only "more creative" DF: okay, bottom line. anal rape sucks. And I don't know if Pulp Fiction sucks but it's gonna be awhile until i get bored enough to watch it. DF: you just don't appreciate Zelda. If they jumped from one idea to another like you mean, then that would make no sense DF: what you don't seem to notice is that in your beloved FF games they also do the exact same thing every game CI: you can't wait years for a sequel and have it be the same thing CI: but those look good, and there are different stories going on, zelda is the same DF: Every FF game is an effeminite hero meeting with a token badass, the annoying peppy chick, the serious chick, and a few others and you fight 1000's of the same damn turn based fight to level up, so you can face the godlike power that threatens the world as you learn about the unbelievable connections of the characters' soap opera/clone/eviltwin/amnesiac lives to come to the end where everything turns out to be a dream or something lame like that DF: see? all essentially the same, but you enjoy them don't you? CI: yep DF: That's because when people enjoy a game and want a sequel they want a game with pretty much the same gameplay with a few things added to make it better CI: which is fine, but I wish there was more to zelda CI: look at my two zelda games i like, they are really innovative DF: it's a game with puzzles you really have to think about, a huge world CI: look at the ones that followed, the same thing basewd off that one DF: we've made this point DF: see above statement about FF CI: so what I am saying here, in a nutshell, is that the original is the best CI: when you have derivatives based off that, they are called sequels CI: and sequels 90% of the time suck DF: look DF: when they made Zelda 1 it was top view non linear adventure right? CI: aye DF: well guess what Zelda 2 was? CI: side scroller CI: sorta DF: exactly DF: and it wasn't as good. People were like well this is okay I guess, but the original was better DF: SO Nintendo goes back and makes the SNES one a top view adventure game with an actual plot, towns, characters, better graphics DF: and people are like Hey that was friggin awesome! CI: not as awesome as planetary CI: :-P DF: and then for the N64 they try something new, a 3D adventure with a bigger more epic plot and a darker story DF: this one gets a great reception too DF: so they make Majora's Mask as kind of a side story to OOT, describing what Link did when he returned to his own time DF: all this time planning on making yet another game for their new system the GC. Then they come out with Wind Waker and they go for this cartoony style to do something different from OOT and MM. They make it a seafaring adventure instead of Link riding a horse. DF: and if you take all the storylines of all the games, they all make sense and you can make a comprehensible storyline out of the series DF: Wind Waker was made even better in that it referred back to previous games plots DF: I hope that explains it CI: lol...i don't get why you explained all of that too me CI: I understand nintendo's intentions with the common gamer, but it just didn't fit ME CI: as cocaine movies apparently don't fit YOU DF: because I don't want to leave the topic until I've completely made my point heard CI: lol i understand that the game is good, everbody else says its good, I just don't like it CI: i never insulted you for liking it, i never gave an uneducated reason why i don't like it, it just didn't suit me, thats all DF: but you didn't say that it was good, you said that all but the two you liked were boring and sucked. I felt it was my responsibility as one who knows all about Zelda to fully explain to you why those games didn't suck DF: ...and I like arguing... CI: to you, i still feel they are the same, and you illustrated that the common gamer enjoys the same thing, only with new features, where I want something more DF: Except in the case of FF where you want the same thing DF: see? we can go round and round like this all day DF: man i wish I could get into my Pagebuilder. I've gotta put this in the Argument Clinic DF: this is a classic "slobberknocker" as arcademan would say |
