Revolutions is about the invasion of Zion by the machines, and the final chances of three groups of people to stop the human race from being destroyed. The first group is the people of Zion themselves, who have set up a kill zone in the dock, site of the first breach. These are the people defending their loved ones and homes, with little hope of success. Most are volunteers, ready to lay down their lives so that humanity can live on. As a Texan I felt a very Alamo vibe coming from these characters. Its like they were thinking Well, yeah, were going to die, but its got to be done. Sort of the definition of heroes, dont you think? The second group is on the ship The Hammer on its way to Zion. Since Zion never thought the machines would find them, they dont have the most powerful weapon against the machines, the EMP. Thats the Electro Magnetic Pulse, which will kill any machine in the blast radius. The Hammer has one, along with the only pilot good enough to get the ship all the way home. Niobe (Jada Pinkett Smith) as the pilot is even more awesome in this one than she was in Reloaded. The third group is Neo and Trinity. Neo finds out that hes not all-powerful fairly early on in this one, so cant just wave his hand and make all the problems go away. Hes got to be strong and smart this time and hes not only got to stop the machines in this world, hes also got to stop Smith in the Matrix. Smith has gotten much, much more powerful, and much, much more scary.
I laughed (some) I cried (a little) but mostly I just sat there, trying not to blink. I didnt want to miss anything. You must go see this, and you should see it as close to now as possible.

P.S. One cool thing about this series before Revolutions is that skin color doesnt matter. Admittedly, in a future like this it wouldnt, but since its being made here and now it turns into a remarkable thing. I look at the characters and see the person, not what color they are, not even as an afterthought. Revolutions takes it a step further, and gender isnt a consideration. It doesnt matter if youre a man or a woman, your competence is what counts. Matrix Revolutions is full of competent people.
