THE UCT Drama Department with present WE GOT RHYTHM… AND ALL THAT JAZZ at the Little Theatre from 27 November 2003.

The show is a sassy and savvy musical revue, specially created for the department’s musical theatre course by Janice Honeyman, using the theatre-making skills of the 16-strong cast in series of workshops earlier this year. The show features a wide range of fine material, moving through vintage classics like Die Fledermaus and Show Boat, before moving on to contemporary pieces such as Hair and Chicago.

The keynote of this production is sheer high-voltage energy, with the cast singing and dancing their hearts out under the creative guidance of David Fick (director), Danie Fourie (musical director) and Adele Blank (choreographer).

The cast is headed by graduating students Adam du Plessis, Brennan Holder, Marie-Louise Honeyman, David Johnson and Mandi Manson, all of whom featured in Geoffery Hyland’s acclaimed production of THE FANTASTICKS last year.

Although they will handle much of the fine material in the show, the rest of the cast will all be seen to advantage throughout the show. They are Ndoni Khanyile, Claudine Marais, Anelisa Phewa, Naima Profit-McLean, Candice van Litsenborgh and, as ensemble members, Talia Egelhof, Kati Francis, Nathan Fredericks, Ryan Jales, Alicia McCormack and Chantal Stanfield.

The show runs from 27 November – 13 December 2003, with shows at 20:00 nightly and matinees at 14:30 on Saturdays. Tickets are priced at R35 (adults) and R30 (students and senior citizens).
