EDTEC 540 examines terminology, methods, problems, and issues involved in the development and use of instructional products and technology-based educational programs in school and non-school environments.

Educational Technology 541

Web Multimedia Development

The course will provide you with intensive hands-on experience in production of multimedia products specifically for the Web. Emphasis is on the design process involved in multimedia development. You will assume various roles to carry out that process, ranging from content expert to quality assurance engineer.

Educational Technology 544

Instructional Design

The course takes an engineering approach to instructional development. Topics include needs assessment, analysis of subject-matter content, development of goals and objectives, classification and sequencing of objectives, design of instructional strategies, selection and integration of media-based delivery systems, design of print- and/or multimedia-based instruction, and formative evaluation of product prototypes.

Advanced Multimedia Development

Two- and three-dimensional graphics, visualization, animation, digital video, sound, and virtual reality techniques. Research-based guidelines, design languages applied to development of interactive web-based learning systems.

Design of constructivist lessons and units using Internet resources. Use of visual organizing tools and databases for instruction and assessment. Tools for professional knowledge base organization and electronic portfolios.
