Deservedly Reece earned the player Of the Match award. Adam Mcguire's typical determined running bagged him a couple of tries and were matched by the equally powerful running of Jack Winstanley; both props scoring long range tries.Jack was awarded the Most Improved award for his efforts. Nick and Alex Williams worked really hard again picking up a well earned try in the process. Both tackled well all game edging other team mates in earning the shared Top Tackler award. The steadily improving Jacob Rylance put in some punishing tackles and damaging runs. Callum McCormick and Jacob Swift scored a try apiece, both working hard in attack and defence. The under10s medal winners Jack Most Improved (left) Player of the match Reece (middle), Alex & Nick Top Tacklers (right) The Lions Roared to First Victory Following an immaculately observed minutes silence by the teams and spectators. Our new emerging under 10s team chalked up their first win of the season against a determined Accrington Wildcats with an impressive 36-22 score line. Conditions did not lend its self to fast flowing rugby but our pack dominated the centre field with the hard yards being made by Jack who lead the pack time and time again. Nick and Alex tackled the wildcats forwards, if it moved, in a blue and white shirt the twins where having a piece of it. The player of the match Reece, displayed skills that some of our older players would be envious of, his speed at the play the ball, side steps in-fact the full Monty. The Wildcats also put on a fine display of rugby but tired in the last quarter allowing the Lions to roar to victory. This match was played in the true spirit of our great game and congratulations must go to the coaches of both sides as well as the players. Report J Shaw |
