A competitive match between 2 sides struggling to attract new players each playiong with 9 a side. The Lions started off shakily conceding two early tries but fought back with determination and 2 tries from Candice. Sam tackled ferouciously with some tremendous tackling and Nathan persisted trying to weave his way to the line on a couple of occasions.but was kept out by some good cover defence. Our forwards Danny, Aaron and Edward struggled to break through some quick of the mark defence from the Sharks but some good ball handling and fortune gave Georgie Winstanley a well deserved 3rd try. A much improved team performance in the second half made the match finely balanced but some power play near our line gave the Sharks the victory. Every player gave their all and played as a team who wanted to win. Injuries played their part on this muddy pitch and everyone deserved a medal for continuing to play on not letting their team-mates down. Some positives to work on in training and some excelent feedback from the players after the game. Candice received the away coaches award for Player of the match. The coaches and parents were very happy with the overall performance and look forward to our next match at Leyland. |
