| This match was not the greatest game of rugby league for the supporters to watch but both teams were well up for it. Both sides surrendered the ball too cheaply and too many unforced errors were probably due to the muddy pitch. New Springs took an early lead though Ryan Berry. St Cuthbert’s struck back only for Josh Evans to score just before the interval making the score 12-4 at half time. St Cuthbert’s fought back well to get with in two points of the lions (16-14) during the match, at this point the game was in the balance, but two late Lions tries sealed a game which for long periods could have gone either way. The game was played in great Spirit and was a credit to both sides.
