Haydock having been unbeaten in a season and half, came up against a skillfull Springs side that played with determination and enthusiasm. On the 6th minute Small plucked a high ball out of the air and after the forwards drove the ball to the line Moore scooted and croosed over for his 1st try with 3 defenders on his back, Birkett converted 0 6. After a spell of intense pressure Springs fumbled the ball in the 3rd minute of injury time leading to haydocks winger scoring in the corner. Half time 4 6.

Straight from the kick off after a hard run from Gallagher , Unsworth slipped past 2 defenders to score 10 metres from touch conversion was missed 4 10.
Again from the kick off Haydock put the ball out on the full and springs capitalised on the mistake with the forwards again lm aying the platform for Moore to score his 2nd try again taking the defenders with him, conversion missed 4 14.

After the ref adjudged that Springs had ripped the ball haydock took a quick tap penalty and scored under the posts while Springs where still wondering what had happened. 10 14.
Straight from the restart with Gregory getting injured in a attempted tackle Haydock scored in the corner 14 14 Haydock then realising that Springs would not lie down attempted a drop goal.
Good hard work from springs With Small, Gallagher , Smith making good yards Forshaw side-stepped the defence and spotted a gap and scored 10metres in Small converted 14 20.
With 3 minutes left on the clock Forshaw scored a 30 metre drop goal to leave Haydock out of reach.
