Shevington 10 v New Springs 40, Div 5 , 08/11/2008 After a 1st minute injury to Springs full back Springs had to reshuffle the side resulting in players playing well away from their normal positions.The first 10 minutes where spent with both teams testing each other out until Hesketh broke through ably supported by Small who duly passed to English to score under the posts with Small converting 0 6. On the 16th minute A Fanning playing at centre slipped out of a tackle and fed the ball to Parry who then sent Boylan playing his first game for the team over in the corner 0 10.with Springs looking more confident they opted to run the ball on the last tackle with the strong running Gallagher running from deep got a inside pass of Moore to score under the posts, Small converted 0 16. The next try was scored by Small after some excellent interplay from Gallagher,Hesketh,English Small rounded the full back on the way to the try line Small converted 0 22. After Springs where awarded a penalty Thomas drove the ball upfield and slipped the ball to Moore who had Hesketh in support to score under the posts Small converted to leave the score at half time 0 28. The 2nd half srarted with Springs loosing the ball in the tackle with Shevington pouncing on the ball and scoring under the posts 6 28. Straight from the kick off the ball found touch resulting in Springs retaining the ball from thr scrum and on the last tackle Moore kicked through and Shevington Kicked the ball back straight into Heskeths hands and he touched down at the side of the posts 6 34.Then once again Springs let the ball go to ground and the never say die Shevington took full advantage and scored 10 34. the last score came again from superb interplay from Fanning,Rennox,Boylan and Hesketh to let Parry score 10 40. The mom for Springs was awarded to Hesketh and thoroughly deserved, this game was a credit to both teams played on a very heavy pitch with both teams showing some excellent skills and commiserations to Shevington who made Springs fight all the way for there win and no way does the score line reflect the game. |
