SEASON ONE


"PILOT"
Lorelai's addiction to coffee. Her friendship with Luke, who owns the local diner. Rory is accepted to Chilton Prep School. Lorelai has to go to her estranged parents for the money. Emily set the condition of the loan that the two must now have Friday night dinners. Rory meets Dean and has second thoughts about going to Chilton.

"THE LORELAIS' FIRST DAY AT CHILTON"
A T-shirt, shorts, and cowboy boots clad Lorelai accompanies Rory on her first day at school, drawing disapproving stares from the other mothers and from Emily.

"KILL ME NOW"
When Richard and Rory form an instant bond during a wonderful day of golf, Lorelai feels left out and finds it difficult to observe Rory's emotional connection with Emily and Richard, not thinking that Rory might like the life she ran away from.

"THE DEER-HUNTERS"
Rory has trouble getting good grades at her new school. Lorelai becomes interested in Max Medina, Rory's handsome teacher.

"CINNAMON'S WAKE"
Lorelai forgets to tell Rory that she has a date with Max, but has to cancel it when Cinnamon, Babettte's cat dies.

"RORY'S BIRTHDAY PARTIES"
Rory gets upset at Emily, who plans a formal birthday party for her that includes many of the students at Chilton, but feels that Rory is being ungrateful when Rory reveals that she would not like to have a formal birthday party. However, Lorelai's party for Rory is a success.

"KISS AND TELL"
Rory decides not to tell her mother that she and Dean have kissed. Lorelai takes the liberty of inviting Dean over, and Rory is embarrassed by her mother's actions.

"LOVE & WAR & SNOW"
Lorelai shares a wonderful day with Max while Rory is snowed in at her grandparents home. Lane misses Rory and comes to visit, interrupting Lorelai and Max's, spoiling his overnight stay.

"RORY'S DANCE"
Rory turns down two boys' offers to take her to a school dance and instead chooses to go with Dean. Dean gets into conflict with the two jealous boys, who were rejected by Rory. Dean and Rory fall asleep together inside of Miss Patty's dance studio. When they wake up the next morning, Rory rushes home, only to hear her mother and grandmother in a passionate argument about Rory ending up like her mother.

"FORGIVENESS AND STUFF"
Emily uninvites Lorelai to her Christmas party and Rory goes alone. Dean assures Lorelai that nothing improper happened on the night he and Rory fell asleep together. Lorelai ends up at the diner, then receives a message that Richard collapsed at the party and is in the hospital. Luke takes Lroelai when she panics. Lorelai and Richard almost bond. Luke takes Rory home while Lroelai stays with Emily. Later, Lorelai brings Luke a new ball cap to say thanks.

"PARIS IS BURNING"
Paris exposes the relationship between Lorelai and Rory's teacher, Max, causing a scandal. Lorelai and Max sadly part. Rory furiously confronts Paris, who admits that she wanted to deflect attention away from her parents' embarrassing, high-profile divorce. Sympathetic, Rory befriends Paris.

"DOUBLE DATE"
Lorelai finds herself on a hellish double date with Sookie, Jackson and Jackson's very odd cousin, rune. Meanwhile Rory double dates with Dean, Lane and Dean's friend. They keep their plans secret because Lane's protective mother would not approve.

"CONCERT INTERRUPTUS"
Lorelai has four tickets to see the Bangles, and suggests that Rory ask Paris, Madeline and Louise to go, hoping they can be friends. Lorelai and Sookie buy cheap seats and agree to meet later. Louise and Madeline leave the concert with two boys to go to a party. Lorelai finds them and drags them away. Paris is impressed that Lorelai would care so much.

THAT DAMN DONNA REED"
Rory and Dean disagree about women's roles after watching "The Donna Reed Show." So Rory, cat sitting at Babbette's, dresses up like Donna Reed and fixes Dean a home-cooked meal. Lorelai calls Luke to help her find a baby chicken - Rory's school project. Later, Lorelai convinces Luke to paint the diner by telling him she'll help him. They set the date for the next Friday night after the diner closes.

"CHRISTOPHER RETURNS"
Rory's father, Christopher, returns, causing tension in Emily and Richard's house when Christopher's parents are invited to have dinner with all of them. Lorelai and Christopher end up on the very same balcony where Rory was conceived. And they end up having sex, after which Lorelai immediately realizes is a big mistake. The next morning, Lorelai realizes she never went to help Luke paint and meets him as he opens the diner. He is hurt and angry and doesn't accept her apology. The next morning Luke finds that Lorelai has painted the diner by herself.

"STAR-CROSSED LOVERS AND OTHER STRANGERS"
Dean and Rory share a special evening as the town celebrates its romantic history. But when Dean tells Rory he loves her, she doesn't respond like he thinks she should have and they break up. Lorelai is in the diner when Rachel, Luke's long lost love, returns to try it again with Luke. Lroelai is a little discomforted by this.

"THE BREAKUP, PART II"
Refusing to indulge in self-pity, Rory attends a party and finds her classmate Tristin, who just lost his girlfriend. When Tristin kisses Rory, she finally admits to herself how confused and miserable she is. Meanwhile, Lorelai visits Max, and the two can't resist making love. 

"THE THIRD LORELAI"
Emily becomes worried when Lorelai's grandmother, Lroelai the first (Trix) offers Lorelai a $250,000 trust fund for Rory's education. If Lorelai accepts the trust fund, Emily fears she will lose contact with Lorelai and Rory once they are not financially dependent on her. However, a public blowup between Lorelai and Emily makes Trix reconsider and she rescinds the offer. Meanwhile, Rory feels uncomfortable near Tristin after their kiss. She tries to pair Tristin with Paris, not realizing that she is the one whom Tristin is interested in. 

"EMILY IN WONDERLAND"
Emily spends the day with Rory in Stars Hollow. But when Rory shows her the potting shed she and Lroelai lived in, Emily is aghast to see the conditions in which Lorelai reared Rory instead of living with Richard and her. Emily tries to create the perfect bedroom for Rory in her house. Lorelai convinces Luke to give Rachel a chance to reconcile with him.

"P.S. I LO..."
Still upset over Dean, Rory becomes angry with Lorelai, who didn't tell her that she is dating Max again. Dean tells Lorelai that he left Rory because she couldn't say "I love you," and Lorelai urges Rory to express her emotions more freely.

"LOVE DAISIES & TROUBADOURS"
Rory finally tells Dean that she loves him. Rachel senses that Lorelai and Luke are attracted and leaves town rather than pursue Luke anymore. Max also senses the attraction, which Lorelai denies. When Max proposes marriage to Lorelai, she is caught off guard and rebuffs him saying he should have done it the "right" way with 1,000 daisies and a white horse. The next day, Lorelai arrives at the inn to find it full of the 1000 daisies. Again, Max proposes marriage, and Lorelai considers her response.
